Mugen Suspension Kit
Open discussion for anyone with any news on the EP3/DC5 Mugen Susp. Kit. How does it feel? Miles driven on susp? Installation? Dealers?
I'm very close to buying straight from Kingmotorsports
Installation looks like it'll b a snap!

ive heard a lot of good things about the ss kit. ride quality and cornering are said to be excellent. if you have a dc5 search on clubrsx. many threads and discussions on there about that ss. kit. not enough of a drop for me though.
The mugen ss feels a lot like stocks without that "jumping around" effect, a lot firmer and stiffer ride. Less rolls in cornerings also. Very nice upgrade. More drop would be nice but it looks pretty nice from a distance. There are plenty of discussions, DIY & pictures already in clubrsx.
I belive its like 995 for the whole setup. Everyone I talk to raves about it. Everyone loves it, and I can't wait to get mine. The only thing is that it's non-adjustable, but hey, i trust mugen more than myself as far as tuning my suspension is concerned.

Only if you are familiar with how to install the front struts on these cars. If not, what should be a 1.5 hr job turs into a 4 hour job.

I've driven a buddies car with JDM ITR rear sway and the Mugen SS. even with the stock crappy tires it takes turns alot better. The body roll is pretty much gone. I'm pretty sure with Bridgestone S03s or Yok ES100s. this thing with be an autocross monster. But for installation. I've lowered plenty of cars and it only takes me about 40-50 mins. But if you were doing the install and have never done it, Take you time even if it takes 10 mins or 5 hours. at least you did it yourself. Those kind of people get props. Not the people who shell out 10 grand and say make this car better.
i have the ss on my ep3. this has been covered SO many times (Especially recently), but i've put two oil changes (about 6k mi) on mine and i love it. i drive atleast 50mi a day during the week and it didn't sacrifice comfort at all. search for more explanations.
Thanks for all the replies! I'll let you all know what my experience is in my EP3 when I get mine on... They sound even more desireable now than ever.
I'm gonna get rid of my Neuspeed springs too because they're too low for my taste, as neuspeed always is. If you're interested, and you like your EP to be pretty low to the ground but not slammed on its nuts, hit me up via e-mail: mavtais004@yahoo.com.

I am also thinking of getting the Mugen SS Kit....
I just bought the car about a month ago (love it) but it only has 2,700 miles on it...
No motor play yet... Break in sucks...
Figured I'll do this first...
I can't seem to find how much it will drop it though...
For those of you who have it, how much did it lower the car?

I run the MSS and love it. Have installed these on other EP and RSX's around and they love it. It's great for the daily driver wanting some weekend track time.

I was in the same market for a suspension for my type s and I could decided between the mugen and the a-spec suspension. I decided to go with the mugen for the following reasons:
1. Couldnt find the Aspec suspension. Most of the dealers are only willing to sell the suspension and wheels even sunny side acura.
2. Price difference of $300 dollars for the mugen ss is worth it for me. You also get a better tune suspension and the drop is perfect. I would love to compare the perfomance between the mugen and the aspec suspension? I should take a ride to the dealer.
Finally my mugen ss has been installed
This suspension rocks 100% better then stock. The stock suspension felt to me like I was riding on over inflated tires and felt very harsh on bumps with out any damping control. With the mugens the car feels like I am riding on air, very smooth, on bumps the car bounces back up slowly, more incontrol then what it did with the stock suspension.
Now my car has some serious handling on corners
The body roll has been eliminated.
The drop is a little lower then what I was expecting but I can leave with it. The suspension makes the type-s a great fun car to drive and gives it a very sporty feel and looks. Has for aligment, I definetly need one. My steering wheel is not straight, so tomorrow I am taking it in for an aligment. I guess every car is different when it comes to this. I let you know how it goes tomorrow. I hope that I wont need a camper kit. Update: No camber kit is necessary after installing the mugen. Camber settings are back to original specs from factory.

IMO, anything real Mugen = waste of money, it's like buying a white T-shirt for 5 bucks, and paying over 40 for the same shirt with a brand name on it.... whatever makes you people happy.

yep, spoken like someone without this setup. Glad you put your 2 cents in, it's good to have feedback from someone that doesn't know what is going on here.

That drop looks perfect. That's the setup I'm going for.
I think its the perfect combo if you don't need adjustability, and
the price is resonable.

I have had the Mugen SS on my RSX Type-S for about four months. I got it because I wanted a perfectly matched set of shocks and springs that also gave me a reasonable drop.
I installed the Mugen SS myself, with a friend. This ws my first time, so it took us about four hours. We took our time so we didn't make mistakes. The biggest issues were separating the tierods and compressing, depressing struts to re-insert bolts. Also, getting to some of the nuts in the trunk is a drag.
Contrary to what's been stated in some places, the Mugen SS components weigh exactly the same as stock. The fronts a bit more, the rears a bit less. Also contrary to what's been stated in some places, you do not need camber adjustment kits and such. I had my alignment checked after the install and it was all within spec. (Have it checked anyway!).
While the Mugen SS LOOKS just like stock, it is anything but. The springs are all different, as are the shocks. Ride and handling are much more composed. In my opinion, the stock Type-S suspension feels nervous and jittery, and it's very prone to bump-steer in fast, tight curves (like tight highway onramps). The Mugen SS fixes all that.
As for the drop, it's 1.4 inches. To me, that is perfect. Enough to offset the visual impact of the larger wheels on my car, but not enough to give it a boy racer slammed look. I think it's perfect.
Overall, the Mugen SS is among my favorite mods. A grand well spent.

Nikes are made for a couple of bucks by slaves in third-world sweatshops. Doesn't stop them from being the number one brand in the States - and all of you are willing to pay top dollar for them. Why? Because you trust the brand, the products are consistent and there is comeback if the quality is not absolutely perfect.
I'm a Mugen ***** - and I love it.
