Default breaking in.. and tuning. questions

Ok im gettin ready to purchase my spark racing motor. I just wanna do a lil check up on seeing what i should do when i get it. i plan on running 12.8:1 in a LS/Vtec.

I am going to break in the motor for 300 miles on some cheapy oil. shifting between 3-3500 RPM's in the break in period. I have the JDM ITR 4.785 tranny

What can i do to spare my self from harming the engine with such high compression before it gets tuned. Can i just run 95 octane and my 310's with 45 psi fuel pressure and a walbro 190lph sufficient for this setup or do you reccomend higher?

i just dont want to cause any damage to the motor during the break in period. All advice is welcomed. and i have searched. but the results came mostly from rebuild's nothing over 11.5:1 compression.

Retarding your ignition timing would help prevent pinging/detonation, if your worried about this type of thing.
