Default Would appreciate your opinions

Initially, I am totally new to motorcycles. The closest experience to it i have is riding snowmobiles and atvs.
My girlfriend works at a bank and is able to bid on reposessed vehicles. Last week they got in a 2002 CBR 600 f4i (yellow). From the picture it is hard to see any damage but it was listed as having some damage to the front. The bike was ridden from one branch to another so i know it is ridable, but the employee who rode it said he thoughe there was some damage to the frame of the bike (something to do with the forks in the front). Yesterday i actually got to look at the bike and it doesnt look too bad at all. The damage to it seems to be only in the front (the windshield was being held on by wire), and some cracked paint on the tank. So the auction is closing tomorrow and as far as i have heard no one has bid on it. The thing that worries me is the alleged frame damage, as i have no interest in incrasing the chances that i will injure myself on it. Regardless Im planning on bidding $400 (a bit more than they would get selling it to a junk yard). My question is, should the frame damage be substantial enough to warrent me not riding it, what do frames for these bikes go for? are used frames avalable often? Is there another year frame that i could swap everything over to should i find one with a blown engine? or should i just pull the thing out and stick it in a go cart? Any relevant ideas are appreciated. thanks.

It's worth price because if the bike does suck then you can part it out on ebay and get a good chunk of change for the motor. If the frame is fucked then i wouldn't bother with it.

If the forks arent bad you can always get them fixed. If it is frame damage then the bike as a whole is pretty useless but you can still part it out.

If you can't see it dont buy it... i would be 100% sure there's no frame damage.... unless you wanna chance it and if its bad part the motor out for more. Stunters will buy the pieces on your bike in no time.

i was able to see the bike, i just couldnt quite see what he was talking about when he said he thought it had frame damage in the memo (he wasnt avalable for me to ask him personally). Is it safe to assume that for there to be frame damage the plastic over the part with the damage would be messed up?

my opinion: a bike with frame damage is only good for parts. you are a beginner and i am sorry but thats not the kind of bike you need to start riding. its not going to handle the way it was designed to, ever. i would only buy it if i had the time to tear it down, part it out and list all the parts on ebay to make some money.

well i was looking on ebay and ive found a few used frames that seem to be in good condition. If it is indeed the frame that is bad i may procure one of those and see about substituting it for the bad one. is that a bad idea for any reason?
