Default will an 96-00 ex header fit dx???

i have searched about this all over the place and i get two answers. some say it will fit no problem and some say you have to get a new cat too because the cat is built into the stock header. does anyone know for shure? my friends stock header cracked and a stock on cost a lot from a dealer unless someone has a stock one to sell me.

it will fit but you will need a new cat like stated above, so its not direct bolt-on unless you buy an EX cat and exhaust.

it should bolt on just fine.......... just that you would also eliminate the cat if you put it on..............

i got a 97 hatch and replaced it with a DC header and it bolted up just fine but i was running without a cat and eventually upgraded my exhaust and then i had to get a cat so that it would bolt on ...........

I had a 1998 Honda Civic Hx and i had the same problem. Everybody told me different story's. The Dx and Hx have the same stock header connected to the Cat. If you want to put an aftermarket header buy a Ex Header and get a new cat and any local muffler shop should be able to weld it and put it on. I actually kept my stock header let me know if your buddy wants to buy mine.

aftermarket header + ex cat + ex exhuast = perfect fit on a dx... it's my current set-up, except i have an integra cat... same difference...

if he just buy's the header it will bolt up without a cat, but if he wants a cat he's either going to have to have a muffler shop cut hist stock exhaust and weld a new flange on it for the cat to fit, or buy an EX catback exhaust.

the LX DX and CX all use the same motor no matter what chassis. the exhausts are the same for the coupes and 4drs, a little shorter on the hatches.

about now is the time when you need to start searching.

its not the model you should be worried bout its the motor if your using the y8 header you need the whole exaust manifold to the cat lx and dx both have the y7.

Sorry i meant an aftermarket Ex Header with a regular Cat from any muffler shop. I am pretty sure a Stock Ex header with the Stock Cat will fit without any problems.

I forgot to mention. When i had the aftermarket Ex header with and Aftermarket Cat. My car did not pass smog because there is a plug that goes hooked up to the stock header. I am not sure if the Stock Ex header has it. I know the HX LX have them.

depending on the mileage on the car... honda will warrenty the manifold...they had problems with the cracking..soo they sent out a notice to the dealerships to take them back as warrenty, but its up to the service writer depending on the circumstances

we get them all the time at my shop...

honda will warrenty that up to 100,000 miles

but be careful how you talk to the service writer... if it was modded... DONT TELL him that
