On Saturday, I was pulled over by Santa Clara police for turning right on a red light. The cop asked for my drivers license and registration as usual. But she also asks for my keys and to pop my hood. So I popped my hood and the cop says, "Why do you have a HONDA motor in your ACURA?" and I just looked at her and laugh..oh my god thats the funniest thing i ever heard ... I guess she was a rookie because she had to call for a back-up to make sure my car was legal. Anyways, I was cited for turning right on a red light and STATE REF ticket (car is "not smog legal she says")....hmmm what yall think?

 

I think im pretty lucky to live where i do when it comes to fixit tickets. We don't even have to get our cars sniffed here! well, what is not smog legal on your car?

i have the jdm dc 4-1 ericks throttle body....she also said that my cam gears, cai wasn't smog legal hmmmmmmmmmmm? i think she was fawkin with me just to give me a hard time...

The JDM DC 4-1 is not smog legal...the throttle body, not sure, haven't encountered that one before, cam gears are not legal if they have been changed from 0-0 settings, CAI could be illegal depending on which one you have. Talk to RBoosted717...he just went to the ref, and he had some fines even though he was able to return the car to "legal" in the BAR referee's opinion.

oh JDM 4-1. I have one of those in the Garage. haven't installed it yet because I don't know how to deal with the whole header issue.

but, ifyou get heatshields for your 4-1, you shouldn't have a problem cause it will give you the "stock" look.

Its like me telling a figure skater that shes not doing her triple sow cow or whatever correctly... ive been waiting a year to work that into a coversation lol

dude pleade not guilty.. get a court date. show up to court by yourself. no need to hire a lawyer.. present the judge with your case. Be sure to bring some documents from the manufacturers of your mods in question that says they are CARB approved. Be professional and organized and they will throw out your case.

Its unfortunate that our legal system is blatently incompetent and there is nothing we can do about it.

 

Damn, I can't really complain about our cops now, they don't even compare to that I'm afraid we're all (maybe some with good reason) profiled in the same section as the riceboys .

I thought you did not have to pop your hood unless they had a search warant? Man I am never moving to CA, thank god FL has no more smog tests. Even when they did, I had friends that worked there and they would just leave the exhaust sniffer half way out when running the test...

 

This is something that can only be cleared by seeing a BAR referee...if you note the initial post stated that the ticket had a little sticker on it that stated that it had to be taken to a referee...you can still go to a court, but they will wonder why you did not take it to the BAR referee.

change your cam gears to 0-0....make sure you got the carb #'s for your CAI if it is carb legal and for the throttle body if you still have the stock one put it back on (not too hard)...and get the heatshields for the JDM 4-1 and just say its stock manifold and you dont know why she said that...heh heh
