Default I have a DX and a Si Tranny..can I make a hybrid......Also SOHC ZC question.

Alright.

1.) I took the B16 out of the car..was unhappy with it, it was a auto motor I got. And I dunno. In general, wasn't all I thought it would be.

So, I put my stock DX motor back in with the Si intake manifold and with a Si tranny...noticed the damn motor was leaking MASSIVE oil..not sure why, it was working just fine before.

Anyways, so now I have a SOHC ZC to put in, and I would like to know if I can just Take the DX final drive and put it into the Si tranny? To have short gears and a longer final drive?

Would this affect/screw up the gear ratios at all?

I do a lot of hwy/commuting driving and would love some good HWY gears but the performance of the shorter gears.

The only thing is the Si trans grinds when going from 5th - 4th. Not sure if I can just replace the Synchro?

2.) Also, I got a SOHC ZC to replace my Stock motor (car is already MPFI) but the guy at the shop said I had to change out the intake manifold to the Si intake manifold..I compared the 2 and they look the same pretty much..do I really have to do that?

I'm planning on putting a turbo on here soon as I put it in the car and finish the turbo on the 5th Gen lude. So the shorter gears would be really nice.

gear ratios for 1st thru 5th are the same in the DX and Si transmissions - the final drive is all that is different - put Si final drive in DX, you have Si - put DX final drive into Si, you have DX - you can swap the synchros from one to the other

Damn, shows what I know about the tranny!

That's too bad!

So knowing that my DX tranny's gears and synchros are good, I could take the final drive from the Si tranny and slap it in?

That's cool, now to read up on how to do that!

yes - or you could put the DX gears and synchros into the Si - probably a little easier
