I have a Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge from autometer -- NEED HELP
I have a Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge from autometer
I am looking to see if anyone has any experience with this and how and where i would go about hooking it up.
It does not come with a sender or anything it is just a nylon tube that runs from the engine to the guage (by the way is that safe in the cockpit --- doesnt seem like you would want oil running into the car into the pillar)
I see that i have to tee off somewhere on the engine block but does anyone have any idea of exactly where.
I have a B18C5 if that matters
Thanks for any help in advance

No, it's not good to have the oil line running to the interior, but it's not that bad either. Just hook up everything cleanly and securely. If it were a fuel pressure gauge, it'd be a different story.
As for the location, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=77375 The verdict is to look for a plugged hole under the distributor.

i have the mechanical oil pressure gauge too. this is how i have it set up.
there are two options here, u can tee straight off the block, or u can move the tee to somewhere else. i've been told that teeing off the block can be bad because the weight of the brass tee and other couplings that you put on there will make it heavy and vibration from the engine can cause the tee to break off. next thing u know part of the tee is stuck in u'r block and oil will be spilling and it'll be hell trying to drill that thing out of u'r block.
(i went with the relocated tee)
1. go get u'rself a brass tee, um.... 3/8" i think. i have one that has one male and two females. i think if you got one that has 3 males, it would make it easier. i used mine because i already had it and didn't want to go hunt another one down.
2. the location u want to tee at is the stock oil pressure sensor on the back of the motor, next to where the oil filter is. u'll see it if u look back there.
3. use the couplings that came with the nylon tubing, i assume there was some. if not go over to u'r autoparts store and grab some. make sure those brass couplings are the same size. if u get the set usually it will come with the tubing, two brass end couplings and ferrules.
so uh... this is getting kinda long.
u want to connect one end of the tee to the block, one to the original sensor and then one to u'r gauge. i hope that kinda clears it up for u, then again it coulda confused u more. email me if u need more help. i experienced some leaks at the start but a lil tightening here and there helped out. just make sure you use teflon tape and it shouldn't leak. HTH
