f22a problems/radiator fan/auto-revving while AC on etc...
Allright - getting ready to get some new plugs and wires, but before I do any basic tuneup stuff I need to know how to deal with some other problems. It's summer now here in NC so it gets kind of hot.
Only one of my radiator fans come on, usually after idling for a long time, or after I turn the car off, it will stay off for about a minute and the fan will come on for 30 seconds then go off. What in the world is that all about?
Second, when the AC is on, not only do I feel a significant power loss, but when idle the car also auto-revs itself to 2100 rpms then back down. When it does this at longer stop lights the temperature bar can go from half way to the notch above or even 2 notches. The way I look at it, I need something to fix the auto-rev, that way it won't get hot when idle, and figure out a way to get those radiator fans on.
Any ideas? Also, we've had the car just over a year (94 prelude S 5 speed), and up until a couple months ago the radiator fan would be on ALWAYS while idling and anywhere from 15-30 minutes after the car is turned off(only the one big one, that is). If it matters, in the middle of last summer the waterpump blew and it was replaced, but everything was still fine after that.
Ideas? New O2 sensors? New radiator fans? Is there a way to 'turn' the fans on or set the time they are on? I've seen tips on various websites that involved setting the fans to always on when the car was on. Thanks in advance.
