AEM Cam Gears and TDC Marks
i'm installing a timing belt on a friends crx...and his zc motor has aem cam gears already installed. now i've used the dowel pins in the cams to align them with TDC, and the mark on the intake cam gear is off by a tooth or more. my question...have other people had aem cam gears that are not accurate...or would this particular application affect where the marks line up.
i'm not worried about the timing of this motor being off...just wondering how aem could produce a cam gear that isn't accurate...if thats the case.
thanks.

yeah seen it 2x on aem cam gears, when i installed mines they looked off by almost a teeth but timing still came out up to specs, and saw the mechanic at a shop install them on this guys civic and it def was off by a little more than a tooth and timing was still good.
The timing marks should not be off unless you are using them on an application we do not have. Lay them on top of the stock gears and if the timing marks are off contact AEM and they will fix the problem for you.
i've only used spoon gears before...and owned a few sets of skunk2 gears but could never bring myself to use them on my old motor.
the spoon gears were right on the money...the skunk2 gears seemed to be pretty accurate also.
