This performance shop told me that they could get me a jdm d16y8 that was capable of producing 140hp. is there such a THING????? Anyone heard of that?

 

never heard of it. the d16y8 equivalent engine in japan was a second version of the D15b vtec engine that had two seperate vtec changeovers to match performance with fuel economy better. I don't think it made anny extra horsepower over the first d15b though, which had 130 ps ( about 126 hp)

 

maybe the guy was talking about the d16a from the ek5?

any D series engine is capable of producing 140hp. Don't let them rip you off.
