Default Door mouldings/trim: Glossy or Flat Black?

Like every one else, my door mouldings/trim is faded to hell. I've read a few posts on spray painting them back to a black color and that's what I plan to do. The best thing seems to be the duplicolor "trim" spray. Although this spray seems to have a finish duller than the original black on the moldings.

Does anyone know if the original mouldings were a glossy black or a flat black? The best moulding on my car looks to me to be glossy, and I wonder how good the trim spary, which appears to be flat will look. Even though I'll probably hit every piece of black trim/moulding with the rattle-can, I was hoping to get a finish that would look as close to stock as possible.

Yeah the Duplicolor will make it more flat. The OE look was more of a satin. not quite glossy but not flat either.

I believe I have seen a few people here paint their trim flat black.

Before you paint the trim, try using some Mother's Back to Black. I bought a bottle of it last week and started using it on my GF's 88 CRX, and it makes a world of difference on the trim. When she saw how well it worked, she went out and bought a second bottle, and we'll probably go completely over her car this weekend. It's not a dye (it's actually white in color), and it removes the oxidation and wax residue from the trim surface.

Oh, the trim is originally somewhere between a satin and glossy, definately not flat.

I already tried Mother's Back to Black and it did absolutely nothing. The side moulding don't absorb anything. If it was a dull rubber, yes, but my side moulding are a semi-glossy, satinn's the word, hard plastic, and won't absorb the Mother's. I also tried a Griot's Garage product for dying the trim black, and it's horrible. There's no way possible to get it even and it runs like crazy.

I'll look for a "satin" finish trim spray, but I might end up with the closest thing they have as anything will look better than the dull, faded, plastic.

Don't understand why this was moved. The thread was more about whether the STOCK EF mouldings/trim are glossy or flat black. Not like it's gonna do much good here I was hoping for more input from the EF 88-91 crowd.
