Picture of ram air duct for DIY "Icebox" CAI
Awhile back I posted a message with instructions on making your own "Icebox" CAI ( http://www.geocities.com/bretq/DIY_Icebox_CAI.html ). I also mentioned that I had modified a turn signal lense to be used as a ram air duct, well I finally have a picture of the ram air duct.
***See picture below***
I also have a picture of the ram air duct "connector". This "connector" connects the ram air duct to the velocity stack of the cold air intake. The "connector" also gives a nearly air tight connection and it makes sure that the incoming air is directed towards the CAI.
***See picture below***

Now, how hard was that to do?
Are you thinking of designing a kit or something like that and market it? If not, could you draw some schematics or good directions and a shopping list.
My "icebox" would love something like that, especially for the track!
Thanks,
A.
PS and if you didn't get my drift, Nice Job Looks Good!

Nice site and car Bret,
I've heard about your ITR rear sway bar mounting kit from the Integra forums here and on SHO.
Nice to see people who are inovative and creative.
So if you have a kit for that intake I'd be interested. I already have the icebox but, It'd be nice to let some air get to it easier.
Thanks,
A.

Looks awesome and clean however I'm sure the real effect is just the clean, cool air. If you've ever studied the effects of air around the front, top, and under the hood of a car you'd see that their is a low pressure area created. To make the explaination short - there is no ram air effect created. Next to that I remember another member posting some information on the same topic. In order to create a true ram air that is used in air planes - you would need speeds that our cars will never achieve. I won't go into detail - It's somewhere on this board, do a search. Other than that - awesome job on craftsmanship and originality.
Question: do you think that water intake could be a problem with this setup? I may build one of these, but am concerned about hydrolock? waadya think?
oh, and where did you get (or how did you make this?)

The black "connector" piece actaully came from Home Depot and cost approx. $3.50. It is actually used for downspouting (ie. connecting rectangular downspouting to 3" PVC). I did make 3 cuts (1 cut every 120 degrees) in the round end to allow it to expand and fit over the 3" intake velocity stack.
yeah show us how you modified the turn signal to a ram air set up

you should make large quantities of those and sell it. It totally buy one. Because im one lazy fugger..
very nice!! i got all the bob vila book's except the one on homeade ram air intakes

Heeeeeeeyyyyyy, that could explain my deep need to fabricate and build things
Go to http://www.homedepot.com and enter this part number SKU: #147745 for black downspout piece used in the corner light assembly. I think this is the correct piece.

One thing that I haven't mentioned is that I did trim a small section (approx. 1/4") off of the 2" rectangular side (see photo above). This allowed the modified turn signal to fit properly inside of the rectangular opening of black "connector".
