Default Threw code 14 (IAC valve) while driving to work.....

Weather was chilly(40 degrees) but otherwise I wasn't beating on it too hard. Any folks out there experience the same thing? Other than the obvious sensor being faulty, any suggestions on the culprit? Car is a 97 GSR with skunk2 manifold, CTR cams, VAFC, JDM 4-1. Is it time to go to OBD1?
thanks
