Default tensioner bolt...

as many before me, i have stripped the head on the tensioner bolt of my new engine by using s 12pt socket.
per people's advise i had purchased and attempted to use the craftsman's "bolt-out" socket set. it did not work, i know have a completely rounded off, over-torqued bolt that i fear will snap if i f*ck with it any more.
what advise do any of you that had to deal with this issue have to me?
vise-grips? welding a nut? drilling? this engine needs to go in soon and that is the only hang-up preventing that from happening.

Welding a nut would be the best next trick because the other 2 options both involve removing more material and once thats done there is no more welding on a nut.
