Default Do engine treatments really work???

I swear to god I must have blown a quart of oil in the past three days out my exhaust. I cant afford to swap my motor out right now, and Ive got to do something to extend the life of my motor quick, otherwise it will be gone soon(it was abused before I bought it). Im sure you have seen the stuff Im talking about, the really thick sticky crap they say helps cut down on burning oil. Does it work? I need my car too badly right now for it to go down.

EDIT: I found a thread on it, but the person who started it is not buring as bad as I am, would it help me?

I wouldnt say that engine treatments work. But it sounds like your hard up for this thing to lead less. I do know that the STP super thick **** is the thickest you can get. If you get it you need to put it in when the car is warm then go for a drive to makes sure it has enough time to mix with all the oil. If you just pour it in itll sink to the bottom and stay.

I'd try running a heavier oil now say 10w50 or so and also maybe use some Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. This should help to temporarily reduce your oil consumption. But realy this is merely a bandage for an enginethat needs a rebuild.

Thanks a bunch guys. I knew it would be a temp. fix, but I have got to do something. I was looking at all the different ones at the store and read about the motor being warm and all that stuff. I'll try both heavier oil and the treatment.

Thanks again
