how to stop wheel hop(searched) on a gsr (mines a 2000), besides motor mounts
went to the track and my best of 8 runs was a 15.730 at 91.05, my reaction time was .101 not that it mattered and my 60 ft. was a 2.385. The track(rt. 66 race way in joliet,IL.) was extremely sticky with its new surface. I launched at 3g's and wheel hopped a little, anything more was more wheel hop and anything less was bogging. This was in my 2000 stock gsr with 22,000 mi. and a trust short throw. thanks for your time guys
oh yeah, newer toyo proxes (55/195/15)

First question I have to ask is what PSI was in your front tires.
Second question I have to ask is were you just "dropping" the clutch, letting it out as fast as possible?
My suggestions:
try 25-20 PSI in the front tires
Launch at 4k-5k RPM, BUT FEATHER the clutch out. Let it out slow until you feel the tires spinning, and then let it out completely, and keep an eye on that tach.
My LS with I/H/E on 17's ran 15.2 @90 MPH. So I know you can roll if you get that driving down, cause you have more MPH than I do. I had a 2.23 60ft which isn't too bad, with a 6.30 330ft, and the rest I forget....go to the track again and let me know how it goes.

i dont know, i consider my self perfect after the launch and really good at launching on a street, this track was crazy sticky, to the point it would hurt you in 2nd and beyond
i tried 25psi and it hurt me, this was by my 7th run, just dropping the clutch then i tried feathering my last and missed 3rd(never happens) there was a ht member with a 01 itr with no back seats h/e and his best time was a 15.4

thats sad. I really want to get behind the wheel of one of those things and drive the hell out of it...cause I see too many people running 15's with those cars.

i've never run at the track, so i can't really tell ya, but I drop at around 4.5k and i'll spin... 3k or lower it'll wheel hop which drives me nuts... btw, tires are newish ES100s
Few of us shold meet up and go for a few runs at rt 66.... I gotta try running at the track sooner or later

BTW my GS-R is near bone stock except for suspension, and I run 15.01 to 15.07 usually w/ a 2.3 60'. Expecting to break 14's the next time I go if I gut the back of the car.

Well if track is sticky, wheel hop will happen. Try launching that thing off rev limiter shouldn't have a wheel hop problem then. But I would seriously check your motor mounts, thats typical of a car that has a bad mount especially back mount. Grab your intake manifold and try to shake your engine from front to back. It shouldn't move very much at all. Good luck.
Im in a similar situation. I have a 2000 gsr w/ cai and kumho ecsta 205/40/16. My best time was also a 15.7 with a 2.48 60'. I had wheel hop real bad, but the next run I launced at 4k feathering the clutch and just got wheel spin with out hopping.
If you get wheelhop, launch higher and drop tire pressure. Those are a few things you can do if you're at the track already and can't exactly put motor mounts in due to the situation. On a side note, with that 60', it seems like you should be running a better time. I can't really talk though, I did pretty shitty myself when I went to our local drag strip.
I used to get wheel hop pretty bad as well. Then when i swapped my motor i put in urethane motor mounts (jimfab.com) and it has solved the problem. There is a little but in 2nd gear it is nearly impossible to do so.
sorry bro but i did search, i put in wheel hop, none.
then wheel hopping, then i got one and it wasn't enough.
so.... back off
by the way, that's a really good time, but considering the other cars running, there wasn't any car running what it should

Those motor mount inserts just about rattle your teeth out of your head.
If it wasn't a two weekend project to take em all back out, I'd lose mine in a heartbeat. My wheels don't hop anymore, only because now the whole freaking front end (and I do mean the WHOLE front end, the change in the ashtray jumps like crazy) jumps off the ground.
for cursing the car because it feels like a .25 cent love master bed gone crazy at a cheap motel room because of the motor mount inserts.
for enjoying the nice ride that is offered with a good jimfab traction bar.

know you sort of ended the thread, but........
I had custom solid motor mounts crafted by RPM NYC for my DA, and never had a wheel hop problem again. And the ride wasn't all that harsh, even RPM asked me if I wanted to go that route, but I'm glad I did. The front end handled better as well.
for RPM NYC solid motor mounts; looking forward to doing it again on my DC.
