Default Just bought 94 Del Sol SI

Hi all, glad to finally be a part of the Honda club. Just purchased yesterday a 94 Del Sol SI, which they informed me that they swapped the 1.6 motor out with a 1.5 since the previous owner broke it. Anyway, I just came back from checking out my engine block code: D16Z6. So that means it was from a 92-95 Civic EX/SI with 125 hp, right?

If so, kick ***! I was wondering what the hell that noise was coming from while at around 4k rpm =/.

Anyway glad to be here,

Greg

yes, it is the same motor as 92-95 civic ex/si.
so, what are your plans now? b16b(civic type-r motor) or b18c1(integra gsr motor) or b18c5(integra type-r motor)???

Clean title, mileage is 127k on odometer, supposedly 90k on 1.5 motor. Car is black but needs to be repainted, interior is awesome, bought for $2800 in Miami. I had a Grand Cherokee Jeep before this but I spent $45+ per week on gas just on driving to work. I bought the Del Sol for mainly a daily driver, as far as modding goes, I haven't had much street action here in West Palm Beach so I'm not sure if it would be worth it, plus personally I dont want to risk my car getting stolen anymore than it is already.

Or he could stick with the SOHC and not follow the trend.. SOHC Turbo

(as long as you don't let your girlfriend drive..(My SOHC is gone for that reason alone ))

I'm confused. You said it was swapped for a 1.5 but your block says d16z6? In any case, welcome to HT man. That's a pretty good price. I bought 93 si for 1k with 121k miles on the odometer. Original everything. Some old guy sold me the car and apparently he was a lil....tipsy when he sold me the car. So the price went from 3k to 1k with a lil conversation. Keep us posted with your progress.

Thanks Yeah I thought only VTEC motors came in 1.6+ litres. I have this site favorited: http://pbh_club.tripod.com/index55.html , it has a list of all the Honda motors info, I hope the info is right.

I wouldn't trust the information on that site. d16z6 motor is not 1.5L and EX 92-95 civics had d16a model motors, not d16z6. My guess is it says that the EX has d16z6 because the d16a for 92-95 civics puts out the same power as a d16z6. Some info is correct and some is not. In any case, if the engine code is d16z6 then you have 1.6, not a 1.5.

good price if its a d16.

Dont swap out the engine yet! Drive it and get the feel for the car and appreciate it for what its worth. Save some money and then swap it or turbo it later.

In the mean time, BIG PIMPIN' in that sol!
