Default Found rust on my tein HAs.. now what?

Just bought teins HAs and have some rust on the very bottom of the shock body, paint is starting to peel off too. The rest of the shock/coilover is perfect.. what do you guys recommend I do? Sand it and paint it green?

Out of curiosity, where do you live? How long have you had the Teins?

are they used? if so then just sand and repaint. it is just surface rust. if they are new, i would take them back. when i buy a new product, i want it to look new.

Bought them from a guy in ottawa, ontario.. he had them on for 1 year I think.

Im thinking my best bet is sanding them and repainting.. has anyone done this?

That makes sense. The only cases of rust I have seen are in very cold climates, which usually use salt to melt snow. The salt will catalyze rust.

is it just me, but seriously its just a shock right? their bound to rust eventually, its not like its gonna rust off or something, so who cares, unless its a show car? then i can see that rust being a problem?

well if it rusts through... then your sol. i wouldn't want to be on the freeway and lose a shock or two. If the shock comes loose/broken won't the spring come off?

I agree to an extent.. but I also dont want to worry about it getting worse and worse. If I can somehow take care of this now, then why not?

And yes.. it will be a show car.. well, kinda.

i would be worried wether the car is show or not.

i believe the tein HA's were discontinued for the prelude correct??? so thats not exactly replaceable. sand it, rust proof it, and repaint it.

cant hurt to do that, but it will help in the long run if you live in an area where they use salt during the winter.
