Acura Warranty a leaking radiator?
Went to the Acura dealer today and asked them if they would replace my leaking radiator. They agreed to until the factory service manager came over and saw the extensive modifications (turbo) on the car. He said that since my car was modded, the radiator isn't covered under warranty. I was trying to explain to him that the modifications has nothing to do with the radiator, but he still refused service. How should I go about this?
call Acura.
I heard that the dealer has to proof that the turbo caused the radiator leak to void the warranty.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Search the www for 'magnusen-moss'. But I'm probably speeling it wrung. That's a federal law about how warranties work. I suspect there's something in there that says they have to prove your mods caused the damage.
You can also call Acura of North America and file a complant that will be sent to the dealers General Manager call 1-800-382-2238

I did that, have had anything but top notch service since ive complained.

Regardless, explain HOW that caused the failure. A radiator cap should blow before radiator itself, right? And that cap should be set to go at a level of pressure below what the radiator is built to handle, correct? So, how is it more work for the radiator?
If by more work you mean to the point where it can't cool the engine properly, then that just means he needs a better radiator...not that the radiator he has is defective. And if this was the case, then he should have been expiriencing overheating problems I would think.
If I am wrong then by all means show me the light...please.

If the turbo is located directly behind the radiator, that's an extra radiant heat source that the radiator wasn't designed for. Heat shields or something to protect the radiator from the turbo would be a good thing.
Turbos make the exhaust manifold get kinda warm...

radiator didn't blow, just leaked. the endtank is where the weakness is. if they replaced it, it will probably leak again.
mine leaked too. not sure if its because of extra pressure or the heat. just got an aluminum one and haven't had a problem.
edit: maybe take off the turdblow and try another dealer?

plastic endtanks eventually disconnect, especially when being worked harder. turbo = makes the radiator work harder, yes the radiator cap does what it is designed to do, but you still have pressure changes at faster rates and a more active coolant system.

I would also agree with this if I was the tech or svc manager working at the time. Turbo'd cars tax the cooling system a lot more.

I went to 2 other Acura Dealers since my last posting and could not get them to replace the radiator under warranty. I even busted out the Magnusono Moss Act, but unfortunately they said the turbo causes extra stress on the radiator. I was too tired to argue anymore...I guess it was worth a shot.
On a sidenote, one of the Acura dealers I went to, the service rep. was being a total dick. When I told him my radiator was leaking and asked if I could receive a new radiator under warranty, he pointed out since my vehicle was lowered, that automatically voids my warranty. He didn't even check under the hood yet! I asked him WHAT KIND OF REASONING IS HE GOING OFF OF!! I can't believe the biases and ignorance of some of the people at the dealership.

Keep in mind that most dealerships are in business to make money and by fixing something for free they are losing money so they'll do anything they can to prevent from fixing the said problem.
It's also true that your turbo puts more stress on the radiator probably causing the leak. Stop trying to find loopholes to fix something that probably wasn't a faulty part and just buy a better aftermarket radiator ment for use with a turbo.
