FIA-rated RECARO seat - anyone want one?

There's an eBay auction ending soon for two used RECARO Pole Position seats with side mounts. I want a second one for my car but don't need both. Would anyone want to subcontract the other one? Let me know ASAP if so...
Kirk
I wouldn't go over $900 for the pair so something like $450 for the more used one with a slider and side mounts. It would be handy that you are in the NE - the seller is in Brooklyn, NY.

I have a 36" waist and the almost 15" wide Evo2's are a bit loose on me (but enough room to be comfortable for drives, i think).

There's no way to know what the final sale price will be. I understand that the reserve is $800, so the price for one would be $400. I don't think it's worth going over $900 for the pair - that makes the price for one a maximum of $450...
FIA-homologated seats don't require a seatback brace in SCCA or NASA road racing. Pretty much any aftermarket seat is allowed if it has a back brace.

I sat in kirks seat this last weekend. I'm about 180 lb, 6' tall and the seat fits me absolutely perfect. I've got an evo2 in my car and its similar, maybe slightly tigher but i'm a little loose in the evo2. Great seat though.

To clarify, I'm keeping my current SPG Racer (the one Ryan liked) but am considering this Pole Position for a co-driver (rallying) and, um, big guy enduro seat. I don't KNOW for sure but I'm betting that the Pole Position is about the same as an EvoII, only because RECARO is now making a wide version of this same seat - so the PP is NOT as wide as they come.
I've confirmed that I have someone to pick them up so I need someone to commit, if they want to get in for a true half of what the sale ends up being. If I have to buy two on speculation, the price of the extra one goes up when I sell it, to cover the cost of money.

There are many FIA homologatons. You want the the most current 8855-1999 as specified in the SCCA rule book and the date on the seat must be less than five years old. After that the seat goes on the pile with outdated seatbelts.
FIA Standard 8855 - 1999
ABC Seats Ltd.
Model: Super Champion 1996
Homologation N° CS.001.96
Date of Manufacture : June 1996
Minimum height of lettering 8 mm
Drawing 1: Label
Month J F M A M *
J A S O N D
Year *
97 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07
Drawing 2: Date of Manufacture (typical verification strip)
7. Seat life:
The usable life of an FIA homologated seat will be 5 years from the date of manufacture indicated on the seat label.
An extension of up to 2 further years may be authorised where the seat has been returned to the manufacturer for re-validation. Extensions will be indicated by an additional label affixed to the seat identifying the date on which the seat eligibility ceases, and validated by the manufacturer's quality inspection stamp.

I hope this one is actually approved. The FIA just rejected all 4 of Recaro's entries for this year, along with one Cobra model.
Having looked at the auction, the seats are 8855-1999 and dated Sept 2000 and will expire on Sept 2005, giving them a useful FIA SANCTIONED life of seventeen months.
sounds like it's going to be too wide for my narrow butt. i've got some other expenses looming on the horizon too, so it looks like i'm out.

Thanks, Jim P. for bringing this up. I'd already confirmed that they have the correct FIA tag to use in SCCA (and now NASA unless something has changed) without a brace but you do surface the age issue...
SCCA's rule is written such that it refers only to the rating and not the age but it would complicate things if they changed this. I got to thinking about this the other day and could easily picture club counsel deciding that adapting part of an international standard - effectively selecting out some aspects of it - leaves SCCA exposed, in liability terms.
On the other hand, it would be fun to run Rally Mexico and I'd need two current FIA seats for that.

(who understands he'd also need a different CAR for that but...)

SCCA says the seat must comply with FIA standard 8855-1999. FIA standard has a five year rule. Therefore SCCA has a five year rule.
That's how I see it anyway.
