well i just got my 1996 accord LX... and i dont know what to do to the engine yet and i dont wanna swap it... if you guys got any suggestion/tips/places to shop or go to let me know because im interested... thanks
my suggestion is to either search around on here or do some research and then maybe ask some questions--you can gain a wealth of knowledge by observing and listening in this wonderful world of H-T.

for power , theres the basic set of AIR INTAKE, HEADER, EXHAUST
aftermarket air intakes replace the factory air box which contains the filter
-around 150-250 bucks
-check aempower.com and looks for cold air intake
headers carry exhaust gas from the engine block to the catalytic converter under your car, if u look under the hood and u c a covering that says "HOT" and has a dont touch kind of sign, that is the thing covering the factory header.
-aftermarket headers are supposed to direct exhaust better
-around 400 bucks
-dont get ceramic ones
-DCsports.com is a popular company for headers but again dont get ceramics
catback exhaust systems include all the piping and muffler and everything behind the catalytic converter under your car, after market systems have bigger diameters and allow gasses to escape better
-around 500-600 bucks
-greddy.com skunk2.com apexi-usa.com hksusa.com
-also get stainless steel so there will be no rusting
the intake/header/exhaust combo gives around 15 hp for a little over 1000 bucks.
FOR MORE POWER another option is BOOST
-turbo for 4 cylinders
-superchargers for 6 cylinders
boost is a lot more complicated than i/h/e but u get like 100 hp from 5000 bucks
-if u dont do it right u risk blowing up ur motor
-u will need to do a lot of fuel management kind of stuff
-if u plan to go turbo, dont get header and intake, an exhaust u may be able to get away with if u know what u r doing (cus most turbo peopel would recommend custom exhuast systems)
-turbo cars have a different kind of "header" and aftermarket intakes for non turbo cars will most likely not fit
-i dont know too much about superchargers though
u can also always work on the suspension cus no matter what ur plans are u will be able to keep those for later
-lowering springs, camber kits (depending on how ur camber is after u lower the car and get an alignment to check it), shocks, anti sway/ anti roll bars, strut braces
FOR LOOKS
get rims, or small body kit items like lips, ( i got a mugen style lip and i like it a lot, and i think its more worth it than if i got a whole new bumper because i am lowered 1.5 inches and i scratch coming out of driveways once in a while i wouldnt want to scratch a 300 dollar bumper)
-if someone didnt know anythign about how cars work, that person will judge ur car by looks
hope this helps, a lot of your choices can be found on modacar.com

o yea i forgot about nitrous, i have no idea how it works but i know that it runs out, its not something u pay for once and use it as a permanent part of your car like a turbo kit or something would be like, thats why i never was really interested in nitrous..... but then again u can get a lot of power from it : )
johneyou is learning
I'd say definately start off with suspension work because no matter what you end up doing with your engine, the suspension is gonna stay the same. If anything just get a cold air intake if you like the sound.
btw... i have the same exact car as you, and the power just isnt there so i'm planning on an H22 or H23(most likely H22) longblock swap. Everything will come out to be about 1500 dollars for that so you save at least a 1000 dollars over getting the H22 tranny also. If your not in dire need of the extra couple tenths of a second, it seems like the way to go.

johneyou's got it down but as far as superchargers, if ur cars auto and its staying that way, that's probably the way to go. not as much power gain as turbo but it's better for auto cuz u dont have to deal w/ turbo lag, but whatever u do, good luck
