does anyone know the thread for the video of the type r with the ats 4.9 final drive beating the evo 8 on the freeway. any help would be great. thanks
I should note that he has recently installed a 3" dp and testpipe, along with the very excellent Vishnu Exede tuning ECU and he just flat out pulls tough on the highway now. Near stock evo's dont move tremendously well on the highway...

Both cars started at 40mph in 2nd. For me thats around 6500rpms.

Its really not that amazing when you look at the power to weight ratios and drivetrain loss:
EVO: 271hp * .35(drivetrain loss) = 176whp
176/3263lbs = .05 whp per pound
ITR: 195 * .18 = 160whp
160/2500lbs = .06 whp per pound
EVO: 271hp * .35(drivetrain loss) = 176whp
176/3263lbs = .05 whp per pound
ITR: 195 * .18 = 160whp
160/2500lbs = .06 whp per pound

Power to weight ratio doesnt mean as much when you start playing with gearing. And I was just referring to reflashing the EVO ecu, its night and day difference. Builds boost sooner, and holds it longer, turns it into a much better highway car. Not only that, but if the ITR was in 3rd gear at around 60mph, EVO woulda pulled, and the ITR wouldnt have caught up to him til the top end of 4th.

I agree 100%
His car now boosts 21 peak, 19 hold. Up from 19 peak, 15 hold. Along with the timing and fuel changes, his car is a completely different car.
