i run 91 octane because thats the best i can get in cali...but i have heard that anything under 10.5:1 you will be safe running 87. im curious to what u guys run and your input.

 

I use 93 octane. That's our premium in Chicago. I'm just follwing the little sign in the gauge cluster "premium unleaded fuel only"

 

its not worth running lower octane if you want performance out of your engine.

 

91+ is recommended, stick with it. You can run on 87, but just don't "beat on her". The ECU will recognize the lower octane and retard timing and lower performance accordingly, though. If I didn't want to run 91, I wouldn't have gotten a GS-R motor.

i run 95 octane here in so cal. i mix 100 octane with 91.

 

93 octane, just like above, that's the premium here in Chi...

I have friends who tell me that it's crazy to run 93... but there is a reason why it says it 2 places on the car and countless times in the manual to run premium... It's not worth it IMO to run less. Ooo.. it saves $2 a tank... get an LS if you want to run 87! hehe

Plus.. Not sure if it's anything related to premium.. but I get AWESOME gas mileage with my new GS-R.. this is with me driving.. so heavy foot, plus it's rather new so i do rev for fun much more often.. and i'm still getting 27-30mpg city... I got like 24mpg city on my Civic EX! heh

 

why waste your money on higher octane then needed? run whats recommend thats what its made for.

91, 93, 94, you'll be fine. Some parts of the country will only have 93 along with 87 and 89 but no 91. Some have both 91 AND 93.

 

its 91 @ 1.99 right now here in MD/DE border

 

91 octane @ 2.05 hurr in New Mexico

 

93 octane at $2.12 per gallon

 

Gas prices are only going up this summer

i wish i could find 93 all i get is 91 for about $2.30 in vegas - toluene time

 

94 octane, 2.05. Doesn't bother me too much.
