sounds to me like you need to do A LOT more research before you start modding your car.

Wow...I never thought of 500whp on a 2.3L as "limited" Anyway, you need to decide how much time and money are you willing to part with first.

Anyway, unless you've got obscenely large amounts of cash you are not going to build a 700whp H22 (atleast not one that will last long).

Depending on how much work you do yourself, the cost of the three possible mods can vary greatly.
Both turboing your F23 or doing the H22 swap will probably cost you between 3 and 5 thousand dollars (once again depending on parts and labor cost).
And if you want to eventually turbo that H22 add another 3 thousand dollars (also depending on how much of the work you can do yourself.)

Now that cost is out of the way we're on to the issue of power. First off a turbocharged F23 will usually out do a stock H22 (unless you really F'ed something up in the turbo installation). But a turbocharged H22 will produce more hp than a turbocharged F23 (assuming that they are both stock engines running the same PSI of boost)

When you want to kick up the boost above the safe level of about 8 psi for big hp gains both the F23 and the H22 MUST BE REBUILT. Sleeve the block, forged internals, better ignition and fuel systems...the whole 9 yards. At this point the stronger aftermarket for the H22 and the better flowing DOHC head make the H22 (in my oppinion) the better choice and will EVENTUALLY pull far ahead of the F series motor in horsepower.

In the end just remember...you're driving a 6gen accord. Its pretty heavy and not really an ideal sportscar. But if you put all your effort and a shitload of money into you should have a pretty badass car.

Whatever you do post some pics of the progress you make and good luck dude

yeah thanx alot man...gotta pay off some bills n stuff first but hopefully mid summer i should start work on the car
and yeah im an xray technician in a hospital...so i make a good bit of money but im not like rich or anything...not by far..wish i was tho
but nah, i deal with a racing shop near where i live that says he can get
me a jdm h22a halfcut for like 2500...or he can get/build me a turbo for my current engine for around the same price
so i mean...yeah i never really planned on gettin an h22 up to 700hp
hell id be happy with 300hp ....just you know if i can get my engine up to like 400hp orso i mean 500max and still be relatively safe...and not burn it out within a month of driving it...id like to just keep my current f series engine...instead of spending an extra like 3 grand to get an h22

Well I hope I helped you a little, and I added some more to my previous post. It sounds like you've got a cool mechanic. Ayway my best advice would be to save up ALOT and then sit down and think REALLY hard if you want to either put your $X,000 down on a new STI, EVO VIII, RSX-S, ect. or if you realy and trully want to do these mods to your car.

This is a huge moneypit and there is no way to sugar coat it. But when you know you've built something with your own two hands that seriously hauls ***; they're are few other feelings that compare. .

Ohh yeah and about reliability: if your fuel and timing are done properly, if you become a **** when it comes to doing your maintenance, and if you drive your car like a normal human being then your engine SHOULD (fingers crossed) last a long time.

Once again goodluck and welcome to Honda-tech

your best bet is to save your money and buy something already fast. making a slow car faster costs too much money and you'll be dissapointed when you go to sell it. it's fun, but it's something you have to think about.

yeah well this car i will have for the next 5-6 years most likely
on thru college and the like
so i probably wont ever sell it
so if its the car ima have for awhile i figured i might as well modify
it the way i like...cuz i mean if i wouldve had 30 grand to buy an STi or
somn like that i wouldve...but that car was even beyond my pricerange
cuz i had no credit of my own bein 20 years old...so my dad cosigned
and i had to convince him most of all and he wouldve never gone for a 30,000
dollar car
my only thing is tho before i start engine work...i dont wanna put new cams/rockers/headers/turbo/etc/etc on an engine that i might be better off swapping from the very start
thats my only hangup
i mean i dunno is it possible to just convert intake/cams/headers over from an f23 to an h22? i didnt think so but im no engine expert...
i didnt think i could just take a turbo off an f23 and throw it on an h22
if i could take the mods off my f23 and with slight work put them on an h22 then i would just get an h22 later on in a few years orso if i felt like i wanted to shrug

another thing you need to think about is gas prices...anything with 500whp will go through gas like crazy...

Sorry but most, if not all, of the parts from the F23 will not fit an H22. I guess if you are looking into the long run of things I would buy the H22 and then wait until I had the money to turbo it.

Just wanted to say that this post helped me alot too.
I'm in the same situation, got this car for college and just looking into a few mods downwards of $5,000 to make it quick...yes, quick, not fast.
In another post I read that a 4cyl is more compatible with turbo if that helps at all.
The V6 has a supercharger available.
I don't know too much about this yet, still learning, but whats the price difference between a kit and a supercharger?

I have two buddies that have h22 accords. One is a 4 door 4th gen that is bone stock. He just ran a 14.7 spinning at the track last week with full interior. The other one is a 2 door 5th gen. He has intake header exhaust and a chipped ecu. I fogot his times but he of coarse is faster. they both plan on going turbo soon. I have a turboed h22 in my eg hb. I love it. The power is awsome. Even when it was non turbo. Its automatic power, you don't have to wait to spool up.
