I bought my car with a sunroof that has cracked glass. Amazingly it doesn't leak
, but that's not the point. The motor is probably broken because when I use the switch to open it nothing happens. So to make a long story short I want to replace my whole sunroof. I have vague ideas about how I can remove it but I couldn't find much by searching.
What I really want to know is steps to go about removing my sunroof. I have heard that you need to remove the headliner but i'm afraid that if I do that I will not be able to get it back in. I had to cut two small holes in the liner once to access the hatch bolts and there is insulation/yellow crap that just totally flaked out and turned to dust and I think that if I pull my headliner down this junk will be all over my car and maybe ruin my liner.
Any help appreciated.

You will need to remove the headliner to replace the sunroof frame.
Have you checked the fuses for the sunroof? Has it ever worked? We can try to diagnose the problem instead of replacing the whole thing. Does it make any noise when you press the button?

Never checked fuses, bought car and roof didn't work, motor makes no noise. I will look in my Haynes manual to try and see if they list the fuse for the sunroof, in case I can't locate it where will I find it?
~Thanks

Check the fuse box under the dash. It should have a schematic on it showing what fuses do what.
Thats the first place to start, let us know whats up from there.

There was no fuse, luckily I saw the extra replacement fuses. I popped the 30a fuse into the sunroof slot, turned on my car and hit the switch. I could at least hear the motor this time, but it was only the slightest *brrr*. The sunroof didn't budge and after hitting the button a few times I don't even think the motor is moving anymore. That being said, how easy is it to install a new sunroof motor
. If I have to pull the headliner for that I might as well replace the whole thing unless I can replace just the glass, but I would think that is more hassle than it's worth.

this is something else to consider while you're fixing your sunroof.

when I first bought my CRX, same thing happened with the sunroof. I used that article to clean my switch, been fine ever since
