Default Vtec point on S2 stage 2 cams

I've finally got my motor broke in to the point where I feel comfortable with giving her some hell...I've been tryin to figure out where I need to set my vtec at and have noticed that anything less than 6700 presents a loss of power for a few hundred RPM's and then kicks up like normal. Skunk2 says they set vtec to engage at 5700 but when I set it there again there's that loss of power? Is this just something that I need to tune out with cam adjustments or something or is this just normal with these cams? I'm running a S2 based computer program that was modified for a b16 running 10:1 compression b/c that's what I had in the last engine, however, it did the same thing then as it does now with the same cams.

B16a 86mm sleeves
Endyn 12.5:1 pistons
ITR head p&p by portflow
S2 stage 2 cams and complete valve train
S2 based ecu

Any thoughts?

what exactly are you tuning with?

when you say there is a loss when vtec engagement is set at 5700 is that according to the butt dyno or an actual dyno. Do you have fpr?

that's according to the butt dyno right...but it's a very noticable loss. In my last engine with the same cams i did have it on the dyno and it did show a loss. But that probably isn't even relevent b/c that was at 10:1 compression. I do have a fpr, msd 250cc injectors, and a walbro 190 lph pump.
