Sound from front driver side
So I'm driving on the freeway about the speed limit, 60-70 miles per hour, and I feel a slight vibration under my foot. I don't think much about it and keep on driving. The car steers/feels fine. No big deal right. Well, I get off the freeway maybe 40-50 miles later and as I push on the brakes I hear a noise. This instantly gets my attention.
This noise that I am refering to is a cross between a squeek and a crunching noise. It's very hard to explain. The next few times that I hit the brakes I hear this same noise. Then it starts to do create this noise as I am driving as well. Soon when I am turning the steering wheel it is very possible that this noise becomes the worst it has ever been. After eating dinner I then drove home and it still made the noise. It may be the most well heard when I turn the steering wheel now. When I got out at the restaurant I pushed down on the front of my car and it definitely made the noise.
My Dad and I are going to jack the car up and investigate tomorrow. He knows a lot about cars, so I am lucky I guess. The thing that comes to mind for me is that it would be a strut. It seems like it may be more then just that simply because of the noise it makes when I turn the steering wheel. Does anyone have any suggestions to the key things we should check tomorrow? If it's of any use the car is a 94 Si with about 177-8k miles on it.
