My 1996 Accord emits loud buzz around 2000 RPM. I checked for loose heat shields everything is ok. Any idea or fix? Please help

May 20 After all day I got my Accord to stop making that annoying BUZZ. Here is what I did to fix the problem : I took apart a and b pipe cleaned and lubricaded the connecting joints , then I drilled 4 holes through the side of bottom , and top Cat - converter shields added 4 heavy duty fasteners. Thanks to the forum members hints my problem is finally fixed.

did you check for the cat heatshield?

I am 99% sure is that sucker, honda do sell a buzz kit for it

 

I removed top and bottom shiled, run engine at 2000 Rpm with no improvement .

items like garage opener..

I am just popping out random ideas(sorry btw)

 

At 2000 RPM engine has specific vibration I'm sure that the vibrations create the buzzing sound but I can not isolate it.

 

I had the same prob. and it was the bracket that holds your B-pipe on to the back of the block...I had bottomed out and the bracket broke and just vibrated on the block...

It's worth taking a look under there cuz it's pretty easy to see if it's broken.

 

What is this buzz kit you speak of? I too have that 2000RPM buzz....been doing it for several months and is annoying as all get out.

Sounds like it's up front more in the dash....but I can't isolate it either. I do know that some noises throw themselves......so was really wondering more about this buzz kit??

 

frequency of the engine @ 2000rpm is whats causeing the object to start to shake (just like an opera singer shatters glass when they sing the correct pitch (frequency) with enough volume)

my friends old turbo back exhaust used to set off his radar detector and car alarms, using the same princeple

 

MY 96 accord buzzes too at just over 2000 rpms.. but its usually only noticable when im doing highway driving. I feel vibrations under my left foot. I've gotten it checked to no avail.

 

Had similar problem in del Sol, ended being a bolt holding on the alternator, check all mounting bolts etc.
