Default anyone broken DC sports short shifter ?

asking because mine just snapped yesterday. it broke while shifting into third and i cut my hand open. it also ruined a 35 dollar b&m ****. i bought this shifter because i thought it was one of the best out there but i guess not. im thinking about going for the skunk2 since ive heard nothing but good about it. anyway the shifter broke off right where the threads start so now there is nothing but a peice of aluminum to grab onto. what should i tell the company when i call them? any help is appreciated. TIA

DC shifters

edit: the shifter is only like 2 months old

I would call DC Sports Customer service number and/or e-mail them first . Let them know you where driven when it happend and show them a picture of the shifter+ your cut hand . The should replace it and or refund your money.. Just be persistent (<~~~~SPELL CHECK) Did anything happen to the tranny? ( I'm guessing that this happend when you where driving and in the middle of changin gears )

I actually called DC Sports when I broke my shifter...

They told me that all DC parts have a one year parts and labor warrantee and that they would send me a new one if my shifter was still under warrantee. The only problem was, I bought my shifter from a seller on Ebay and I didn't recieve a warrantee card

So if you filled out your card when you bought the shifter, just call them up, they seemed pretty cool

Stress from heat. That and maybe also a lot of hard shifting.

to get the broken off piece out from the shift ****,..just use an easy out from sears or home depot,..no need to throw away the shift ****

and i wouldnt call the DC short shifter "cheap ****" ,..you dont hear "to" many stories of thier shifters breaking

The problem is the DC Sports shifter is aluminum and that is why they snap! If you stick with a shifter made of steel such as the Skunk2 it will never break!

FYI....OEM shifter is steel also

that sucks how bad did your cut your hand,
I've broken my b&m short throw but i think I'm probably the only one to ever do that... anyways it still had about a 1/4" of thread on it so the **** has been threaded onto that for about a year now and no problems

I've had my DC shifter for about 5 years...no problems...well...it rattles against the heat shield a little when I shift into reverse.

I don't see how you guys are putting so much force on the shifter.?! You don't really need to slam your car into gear...right?

I liked it when I had it in there, worked great!

I have always thought, if you are shifting hard enough to break your shifter... it's probably better than damaging your tranny which costs a lot more.

thats the thing though i was shifting into third at about 4000 and i wasnt pushing hard at all. it just snapped really easy and then my palm ran across the last thread (the only one still on the shifter). i looked down and my hand and shift **** were both bloody. the cut runs from just under the first knuckle of my index finger to the center of my palm
