Parking lights don't flash w/ stock alarm.
I just got an ek and retrofitted a stock alarm brain and keyless radio. I had to install the alarm fuse, since there was never an alarm on my car. It works fine, but the parking lights don't flash when I arm/disarm the alarm. Though they work normally as blinkers, etc. Does anyone know why? Are they even supposed to flash? Thanks.
are the wires from the "brain" connected to the light fuse?
your alarm should show a installation guide, which shows where the wire/outlet is for the lights to flash

this is an oem alarm. It plugs into a green wire harness, quite hard to mess up. There's another green harness for the keyless entry too, and I've got that hooked up. Like I said, it works fine, but the parking lights don't flash. In fact, I'm not sure if they're supposed to, which is why I posted. Thanks.
I'm buying a 99 EX tomorrow. I don't know if it has the factory alarm or if it is just keyless entry. If it is the alarm I will let you know.

I dont think I have a stock ALARM, but with my keyless entry my lights dont flash on my 99 Lude. I havn't tried looking anything up on it yet, but if anyone knows how to get them to flash, I'd like to know.
Well, if your remote says honda on it, then it's stock. Otherwise, find the light outputs on the aftermarket alarm module and wire them up. I'm sure you can find all the info regarding the location/color of wires online.
you have a oem honda alarm[mounted in the gap on top of deck] its made by alpine [8026 kind of] door locks are routed through the radio [no good reason] it does not flash the parklights [although it can] it has starter disable [although you may not have plugged the realy in] it honks car horn when alarming on all honda/acura i am 50% sure hope this helps94

Hmm, you mention that it can flash the parking lights, what controls that? I set it via the remote to not honk the horn, since I find it quite loud and annoying. As far as the wires running into the headunit, this is because the keyless entry unit is inside there. The alarm is basically an add-on. So, please let me know about the lights, I'm very interested.

yes i know the doorlock mod. is in the radio ,there is just no good reason for it, you can use the horn output ,use it to trip a relay that you plug the output of to the parklight term.on fusebox. although if you have turned off arm/disarm honk you will also not have parklight flash. if horn is to loud install a siren [soft chirp kind] hope this helps 94
I've thought about that, but if I disconnect the horn, when the alarm goes off, the horn will not honk. I know, it's kind of a double edged sword. I was simply wondering if this is the way it came from honda. Apparently it is. Thanks.

I know what you're saying, but as far as I can see, there's only one wire going to the horn from the keyless/alarm combo. So if the alarm goes off, it would sound the softchirp siren, as opposed to the horn. I can't see a way around that, but maybe you do? Is there a way that the alarm can control the siren to sound loudly, but have the keyless keep it quiet when locking/unlocking? I was thinking about using the lock/unlock signals off the keyless to sound a soft siren, and leave the horn control alone. I know it would sound every time I unlock/lock the doors manually as well, but I could live with that. Let me know what you think.

yes, you cut the horn out wire 1 or 2 in. from the alarm brain [cap off the wire going to horn] use the one coming from the alarm to trip 1 or 2 relays ,one to run the softchirp [only soft for about 2 or 3 sec. long enought to softchirp on arm/disarm will get louder on alarming mode] use other to flash the parklights . you will still have a working horn, the arm/disarm conf.is soft, the parklights flash.or use horn output to run one of them ,find and use startercut output to trip the other[ this will be a low 125ma to 250ma pos. or neg. constant output when alarming ] run siren with this [you only hear siren when alarming] lights will flash on arm/disarm and alarming. hope this helps 94
