I have heard quite a bit of people complain about nakamichi and their older models having problems with the laser reading CD's. i was wondering if people that own this unit also have problems? i would think that the newer version wouldnt, but am i wrong? any info appreciated. thanks

i dont own one. but i was looking into getting one. there are lots of problems with them. nakamichi japan is no more, they sold the company and it is now known as nakamichi usa. i forgot which company bought them, but it doesnt matter, they have problems. i would say about 75 percent of them are sent in for repair.

ur still interested int he nak after i told u that ovver 75% of them get returned. if thats not good enough, u asked one guy on this board who and he said he sent his in, ur still interested? u must be crazy...

CBRstereo.com sold about 500 CD-400 units and about 7 of them (including his) needed to be fixed

 

where did he get his info from? was it CBRstereo? do u really think theyre going to say that 375 got returned? umm i dont think so.

but then again, i dont have a reason to lie to u, my sources are reliable simply because i have heard from different reliable sources.

2. 2 nakamichi dealers(that sell the product) that i know personally
3. people who have experienced the problem.

im just passing the info on to u. just trying to help and also wondering y someone would want to buy one after all this info. if u knew wut i knew, u wouldnt get one. i was going to get one as well, to match my type r's amber interior and look stock.
im GLAD i didnt get one.

do you know of any decks that do light up amber and have good sound output? i only plan on getting a deck and speakers..no amp or sub.

EDIT: just realized u said no amp. then this HU wouldnt fit ur needs. its a preamp only.
