Default Insurance Question

I am 18 years old and have a 98 Civic HB. I pay $350/6months for the civic stock.

I want to know if I drop in a B18C5 would the insurance still be the same price or will it change to the price an ITR would cost?

I have done some searching but none came up like this.

You get insured on what car you drive not by what motor is in the car. I am almost 100% sure that the motor will not change anything with your insurance. That would be gay though if they did.

if you dont tell your insurance about ANYTHING you do to your car, they have the right to cancel your insurance and hence you being screwed for 5 years if they cancel on you.

they are insuring a stock civic.....not a civic with a b18c.

example: car gets stolen you have rims engine etc.. etc..

you get the price of the STOCK car at blue book value. you do not get anything back from what youve put in the car. and if they find out you were modifiying it without notifying them, cancel!

true unless you opt for add-on or comprehensive insurance. I have my 90 civic hach insured up to 4500 since i got it painted. Covers the price of the car swap and paint job if it does get jacked you can tell the insurance that you just had the motor rebuilt and dont say anything about performance. Tell them you want it to be covered if anything happens. They then ask you how much the car is worth to you. They take that price and insure you on it not the stock or market value of the car if anything happens. Your insurance might go up some but worth it in my book

btw i have Mercury Insc

Why don't you call your insurance and ask?

$350 for 6 months and you're only eighteen? That's damn good.

I'm 24 and I pay near $600 for six months on my 00 EX.

Most mainstream insurance companies will let you do quotes like this online.

Progressive does.

How do you only pay 350 for every 6 months?

I'm 20 and pay $600 every 6 month for my eh.
But they cover every mod i do to my car as long as i keep all the receipts. And yes they know i have a swap.
I paid $600 before swap and still pay $600 after the swap.
And i don't have full coverage. I'm missing the part where if i cause the accident they won't pay. Forgot what it's called.

yea if you want it to be insured with the motor swap then you have to get a commercial policy, which means for racing purposes only. i got canceled when i wreck my h22 eh and they sent me a note that said i was using my car for racing purposes and dropped my ***. so i sold the car and they took me back onto insurance. just my 2 cents on what happened to me .

I'm 22 I have 2 accidents on my record and I have collision and uninsured motorist coverage and I pay 350/6 months. But your going to pay a pretty penny when they insure your car with that the new motor in there.

I pay $7000 a year. 2 non at fault accidents, 3 speeding tickets with 4 points.

Be careful with insurance a modded car. A lot of companies in Ontario have started to drop car once they find out they are modded. Total bullshit imo.

Tell me about it. Hopefully it'll go down next year.

Learn from my mistakes people.

no it's called liability, liability is where if it's your fault they fix the other car but not yours.

dude thats bs, what insurance company are you with? I have progressive and their pretty cool about stuff, if you get into a wreck and your car gets totalled if you have your receipts they'll give you what it's worth. But almost anytime if you total a car and it has a swap in it, buy it back and keep the motor well if it's worth it that is. Better off you having it and can either sell it or drop it in your next one
