Default Spoon ITR motor

I just bought a spoon motor, and I am awaiting to install it, but I have been reading some post and they say that it may not be a good idea. There are a lot of mixed comments about it, and I was just curious about your comments. Will it be okay as a daily driver? Will it pass a ref if you change the parts needed. Please help

You bought a 4000+ dollar motor and don't know every excruciating detail about it? Something doesn't add up.

Actually no. The Spoon motor you bought is a horrifyingly worthless POS. Sell it to me for $5.00.

The cost isn't that far off from a new OEM long block from Honda.

I am over in Italy right now, and I sent the cash to my father, because it was a good deal. It is just a 2000 JDM ITR built by spoon. I am asking if I would be able to pass smog (ref) in so cal, or if I wont be able to pull it off. I am keeping the motor one way or another, just asking if I can possibly do it legally. Will give more details once it is done, just need help now. I just bought it today btw. I have a lot of money because thats what happens when you are stuck on a ship in the middle of a tax free area.

http://www.inlinefour.com/spoonbserena.html
B18C ENGINE ASSEMBLY -- $6,370.00

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/
B18C5 ENGINE BLOCK ASSEMBLY -- $2410.49
B18C5 CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY -- $1570.33
B18C5 TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY -- $1847.22

Actually a new OEM longblock is $3980.82, and with new LSD transmission it is $5551.15

So...you can either get an entire an entirely new ITR motor w/ tranny for $5500 or you can get a spoon longblock for $6400. You're essentially dumping $2500 for a balanced OEM honda motor with the spoon logo on it

Haha, they don't even come with the yellow valve cover , and Inline Four isn't the cheapest place around, a shop in New Orleans, I believe, a year or so ago had them for around $4500.

Just saying that you can't really base price off one shop.

ALMOST no one in socal cannot get a swap legally that will pass smog. They are sooo strict here. You will just end up having to pay someone extra to do it illegaly.

I have NOS going threw my system, and I live a quarter mile at a time! Now that I am classified as Fast and Furious, I want to thank you for your help. I never said that I wanted to be the fastest Civic out there, or that I wanted to be an auto-x champ, just wanted to know if I could go to a ref in so cal and pass with swapin out the sensors and other parts that I needed, since I was told no, I guess I need to change my plans with that motor! If you have any helpful hints or stories telling me that I can pass or anything like that, then please post, but if not, then I know that I am just a "r-tard" with a spoon engine as said earlier.
