Looking for a reliable car
Currently I'm driving a POS Ford Thunderbird. Its my first car and it totally sucks. The tranny ripped up, among many other problems. I know its not the company, just the car. **** happens though. Anyways, I've been tilling about since I had my wreck a while back looking for a 'replacement' something to be my daily driver and possible tuner. Something that gets good millage. I have looked at Volkswagen Golfs/GTI/Jettas, Ford Foci, Toyota Corolla/Celica, among other things. Doing research on them. So I have come here because of many reasons. The main reason being is that my friend has an Accord model I like and I swear to God he his a Honda guru if there ever was one. So if I have any tuning problems, he could help me. Another reason is that Hondas are very reliable. So I just wanted to get some information on the old Accord Hatchbacks. Thanks a lot.

so ur looking for a 3rd gen hatchback?!??!....those cars are sexy as hell
check out http://www.3geeze.com (sp?).....theyve got alot of info on 3rd gen accords
its gonna have very very little power from the factory, but since its small, you could easily get away with throwing a b18c into it

Ford Focus would not be on the top of my list. All of my friends that have them hate them esp the zx3 hatch. Numerous recalls and Ford quality(if you can call if quality) I would def do any vw honda or toyota. Have you thought about nissan? They seem to run and run and run. My friend has a 95 maxima v6 with 255,000 miles on the engine and tranny from the factory. Good Luck

Yea if you're looking for something inexpensive yet completely reliable, 3rd gens are great! There's 2 black 3rd gen sedans in my driveway, mine which just turned 342k miles this morning, all original and running absolutely perfect! (and I can't forget about my 34 degree A/C!
). The other is my good friends 87 LX, which just turned 300k the other day, all original, and yes that includes the original auto tranny.... never been touched except for regular fluid changes, and it runs, drives, and shifts 100% perfect. It's idling a little weird right now cuz we just rebuilt the carb, but it just needs some fine tuning. I can't say enough about my car when it comes to reliability.... it's never once left me stranded and I still trust it to take me on any of my numerous and lengthy roadtrips. Can't argue with 417 miles in air conditioned comfort on 12.5 gallons either!
