I say talk it down a little if you can. What you've listed so far sounds like a cheap DIY-er that hasn't been doing a good job of it.

$9500 is a good price if the car was all stock.

How about keep looking for another clean SI. There are a bunch of clean ones for sale. I'd rather pay a little more for a clean one than inherit one that's been ghetto rigged. Just MO..

I have to agree with this. Last car I bought was modified, and the trans went within a month of buying it, and then about two weeks later the motor blew up. Id find somethind else if it were me.

Best thing to do in order to get a really goood car....

BUY FROM OLDER People.

i seen this guy driving a SI Clean, new... hes was like in his 40's.

buying from old people usually not always means the cars been babied.

Good point. Like you said, doesn't always mean that the car was "babied", but chances are that an "older" more "mature" driver not only maintained the car, but did not mod it and beat the snot out of it. Hell, I've seen some very clean SIs for sale on this board..

When you say "fugly" rims, do you mean stealies? Or aftermarket rims that arn't your taste? ..... If there is not big body dmg and it runs well, an SI is at least 9k...
