All motor project gone bad. How bad you ask, see pics inside
Two weeks ago we put my new head, cams and all my goodies on. Well due to a bent skunk2 cam gear (it was bent and over 500 miles it caused the adjustment screws to come loose and the cam adjusted itself 10 degrees and bent all my exhaust valves). So I took it to a local machine shop where they put all new exhaust valves in and re did 2 of my exhaust valve seats on cylinder #3. After this I installed my head and 150 miles later im here telling you this. Leaving work one morning the car just stops running as im driving ( I wasnt driving the car extremely hard but was in the 4500-6000 RPM range when it happened). I pulled over and tried to crank the motor. Car did not do anything at all , sounded like it was locked up or something. I pop the hood and check the cam gears out to find that they were off. I was still a bit confused cause I couldnt understand why the motor was locked up. Timing belt was on and did not seem like it had broken.
We towed the car to my frined house and tried spinning the crank by hand to see if we could move it. Motor would not spin at all. We took it apart and found this:

Well I will have lots of parts for sale in the next few days as I am getting out of Hondas. I love them but i cant keep doing this. Im ordering new motor tomorrow and putting it back to stock and most likely selling it. We are stil unsure how it happened, maybe it was a faulty valve or the machine shop installed it wrong. Only piston 1 was messed up.

well .. that's the risk you take when you build a motor.. you can't expect it to be reliable when its built
.. o well I understand your pain.. when you spend a lot of money on something and it goes to ****.. been there done that..
Dont let that get you out of hondas..

What does the retainer look like on the valve that dropped? When my old motor let go many moons ago, the stock retainer had split and dropped an intake valve into the motor.
BTW, it looks like one of the exhaust valves from #1 cylinder is the one that dropped.

The inner adjustment part was bent. I Bought it with 0 miles on it from a board member. Either it was machined wrong from skunk or the guy I bought it from some how managed to do it. The cam gears are like 2 pieces the inner adjustment part was messed up.

Can you say FUCT? lol...man i know exactly how you feel! But dont let this pull you out of the game! it was an honest mistake that could actually happen to any of us at anytime!
hope everything works out ok

im sorry bro. when i didn't know too much the same happened to me. but in my case it was because i had advanced my cams too much on a b20vtec with b20 pistons uncut. my head just as bad as that one but the valve did'nt stop there, it went through the piston, bounced off the crank and penitrated the block. your looks like valve 2 piston clearance also. it was only in my #1 cyl. everybody knows **** happens whether its idiotic or a honest mistake all you can do is swallow that **** sandwich and learn from that mistake. ( i still have that nasty *** taste in my mouth ) i sold my cam gears after that ****. good luck bro i know exactly how you feel. i wanted to just get a long block b16 put in it and sell. but after a LONG 3 months or so put her back on the road same setup. good luck bro
im confused, when we first installed it with the skunk gears and ran great until i bent the valves. I took it to redline and everything. Why come after we put the same exact set up back together I have piston to valve clearance issues.
