Which would you prefer. The 8 pounder prolite or the 12 pounder streetlite. Right now i only have intake, header, exhaust, soon to have hondata s100 in my 96 civic with 98 b18c1. I just ordered an ACT clutch and pressure plate and decided to match it with a new flywheel. In the future i plan to go turbo. SO wouldnt it be best to stick to the slightly heavier flywheel?? I'm sure it will be a big change over the stock flywheel even with the streetlite. So right now I'm for the streetlite. But what do u guys think i should get in my scenario??????

 

all motor 8 lb

street boosted 12 lb

crazy boosted 8 lb

 

12 lbs for daily driver, and low boost

8 lbs for anything else, high boost

the 12 pound would still be ok for running high boost right??? Ive seen some people do it on a stock flywheel

yes and 8 lbs would be more beneficial if you want to spool up the turbo faster(especially in a drag racing enviroment). 12 lbs is perfectly acceptable for the street with high boost.

 

ok yeah, its more for street use. so u guys say stick to the 12 pound one right?

I love mine!

 

I personally went with the 12 lb. I like my driveability with the car. When you switch to the 12 lb it makes a BIG different by itself. I bounced off the rev limiter the first time I got on it because I was to used to the regular accelerations

 

I have the Prolite in my R motor and I love it.

 

dude, if your going to lighten up your flywheel, minus well just lighten it all the way. theres no point on getting the 12 for "street". its all about reving faster.

 

Prolite on my turbo del sol. I lubbb it. Could never go back

 

is the prolite just as reliable as the streetlite?? arent these flywheels pretty stong. Made of Cromoly or something. Do u guys think these are one of the best brand of flywheel. especially to match to my new act clutch?? They seem to be reasonably good priced. But ive never had a lightweight flywheel. Can't they shatter or break if too light??

 

I just got an ACT prolite...I haven't installed it yet but the quality is awesome!

 

so which one evrybody?? or do u not recommend the ACT flywheels at all??

 

8 lbs for street or track for me. It's just a matter of getting used to it.

If you are doing any kind of drag racing...get the streetlite. Cars that drag race need the inertia that the heavier flywheel gives you for the holeshot. YES, the 8lb flywheel lets you rip through first and second gear, but up in high 3rd gear and beyond is where you need your engine to pull its own weight with the inertia of the flywheel and crankshaft. The 8lb flywheel is for road racing. A light flywheel lets you accelerate out of turns more quickly. For all you ppl out there that dont road race and have 8lb flywheels on your cars on the street: while you think that ripping through your gears makes your car faster...it's only half true.

if the inertia of my flywheel is so different with a 8lb one why do the tires chirp the same with a stock one as they do with the one i have now? the same goes for the 11lb one i used to have in. now with the 4.7FD(d16z6) i can chirp 3rd.

 

so kNOwLedGeDA9, do u think i should stick to aneven heavier flywheel, or does the streetlite sound like a good weight??

Huh? Yea, ok.

Guess I better get a 20lb flywheel so it can allow my own engine to pull its weight in 3rd gear.

 

just a quick question... would there be a problem using a act streetlite flywheel w/ a exedy clutch?
