My wife has a '96 EX V-6, and we have a re-occuring problem:
The temp and fan plastic dials keep busting inside on the metal peg.
They are semi-circle pegs inside that the plastic **** slides on and allow you to set the fan and temp. level. The plastic part that goes over the metal part keeps busting, even though it doesn't feel too tight. So the damn things won't work.
And now that it is cold in the morning, and warmer in the afternoon, it sucks having the heat on all the time, and it is a big f--king hassle to carry a set of pliers to set the heat, and at $15 a pop, I don't want to keep shelling out cash to replace them!
Anyone else have this problem, and what did you do about it???? I though about trying to lube it up with some penatrant like WD40, but I don't want to f--k anything up inside the dash ....

Those break so often that the parts department at Honda dealers usually keep a stash of them right behind the counter. After you replace the first ****, keep the package and receipt. It has a warranty. Next time you break one, just bring in your stuff and they should replace it for free. Yours seem to be breaking too often, however. I guess either your controls are abnormally stiff or you're using too much force.
