Head Unit Issue, motorized Antennae? please read
I've got a pioneer head unit...given to me, and it came from a 92 Civic Si, then into a CRX with some modification to the wiring harness, and now its in my 94 integra LS, I can't listen to the radio cause I don't know how to make my antennae go up when the radio turns on, does anyone know what I can do, or which wire I need to run to what or anything? Thanks in advance.
okay...does the pioneer have one or both of these:
a. a solid blue wire
b a blue wire with a white trace.
If the radio only has the solid blue wire...this is your
amp turn on wire...it can be used to work the antenna when
the radio goes on. If the radio has the blue/white trace wire
this is your dedicated power antenna wire. this is the
wire you should use.
Hope this helps...happy installing.

okay I'll break it down for everybody. There is only one free wire coming off the harness in the back of the head unit, its blue with a white trace. There is 2 free wires coming from the OEM harness/conversion thing, There is a solid blue one, and I believe an orange one labeled dimmer...so I think I know what that is for. Thing is when I hooked the solid blue with the blue with white trace, it blew a 7.5 AMP fuse in the fuse box under the hood labeled, "BACK UP" So...what now?
Hmm...this is an odd one. Just for giggles..
tap the blue wire in the conversion harness
to ground and see what happens. If my hunch is
correct you will need a relay to convert the pos output
to a negative to work the antenna.
IF the antenna move when you 'ground' it to chassis
its a negative triggered antenna.

A civic should not have a negative triggered antenna. The only cars I can remember that I ever had to do that for, off the top of my head, were early 90's mazda's.

So, does anyone know what the 7.5 amp BACK UP fuse is for? I'm guessing it has to do with the memory of the clock, and probably the stuff on the radio as well, but other than that? That's the only fuse that seemed to blow when I tried to connect the blue w/white trace to the solid blue off the conversion harness.
