Gear Shift lock

Gear Shift lock

When I try to put my car in gear, the shift won't unlock unless I use a second key to depress the lock in the gear shift. Any suggestions?

do your brake lites work? if not ,replace the switch

My brake lights don't work either. Do you think that is related to the fact that the gear lock shift isn't unlocking either? Thanks!

you need a brake lite switch,it is on the brake pedal,not too hard to change

Yup, replace that switch. You'll fix both those problems.

I've checked the brake pedal and can't seem to locate where the brake switch might be. It is actually located on the pedal itself? Any visual advice would be great, thanks.
