To boost or not to boost...THAT is the question
Hey folks i'm in a dillemma, i have been a long time honda head and know most of my ins and outs of them. I need a new car badly and i have been considering a 89-94 s13 240 hatchback, or a 92-5 honda civic eg hatchback.
I know my way around an engine but when it comes to turbos I AM CLUELESS, which is why i am afraid of the sr20det that i want so bad. The reason i want the 240 is for the rwd and awesome autocrossing, however for A LOT CHEAPER i can build a great civic for autocrossing, I am on a budget and (in my opinion) the difference between having a finished civic and a finished 240 is about $3000.
My budget is around $8000-$8500 and with that i can get a civic into high 13's i don't know what swapped out 240sx's run with little mods (since i'll only be able to afford little mods. A problem with a 240 is that i would have to pay someone to swap the engine for me, where as the civic i can do my own work. Civic parts are cheaper and with that $8000 i can include suspension, looks and engine work, where as for the 240sx i can only do the engine work, and some suspension.
The problem here is that logic is telling me go witht the civic but my heart and eyes are saying go turbo go rwd go better looking go 240sx. Can someone please convince me to either get one or the other. NO I AM NOT jumping on the drift bandwagon, i simply love the 240sx and rwd is so sexy so it jsut makes more sense for me.Pplease no flaming. Thanks

240sx is not my dream car at all and it isn't that much more appealing than the eg I LOVE THE EG it has always been my dream car to have a itr in a eg, but i am reconsidering it because damn rwd and turbo is no joke, so i dunno anymore
Ive done both, hondas and nissans. civics are 10x easier to work on and get parts for but not as fast as most 240's with the same amount invested. everyone and their mother wants to buy a ******* 240sx right now so the prices have been driven through the roof on cars AND engines.

Then buy an EG, and put in a B18C5. No boost, no problem.
