Opinions: 96-00 with Tein SS

Default Opinions: 96-00 with Tein SS

I am asking for opinions on different settings you guys are using. - From the STIFFEST (clockwise)

This is for regular daily driving, occasional spirited driving.

Mine didn't come with a manual - but it says front 8/rear 6 right?
I really don't care, I wanna know what you guys think.

(stiff) 1 - 16 (soft) So pleae give your numbers from the stiffest (to avoid confusion); thanks!

Sorry to hijack your thread but...

I bought mine used and when i reset the settings (turned all the way clockwise)
I counted 21 clicks.....
What does this mean, I hear there are like 8 'empty' clicks or something but then I hear that after 16 it can lead to damage.....
anyone wanna help me.

also dont get used to riding it stiff a lot, just puts more wear on the unit

there are only 16 settings. dont try turning it more, it will damage the unit, as far as having it too stiff, i doubt it will hurt the damper kit, its designed to work together and its not cheap ****, they wouldnt let you make it so stiff that it would eventually ruin the strut. i have mine set at 6 front, 4 rear, and i love it!!

every one adjust their teins wrong. go to http://www.tein.com and you can actualy find the manual for your car but it goes like this...

fully clock wise is full stiff 16, then you adjust going counterclock wise to a softer setting...

there have been a few threads on this..

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16
full soft is 1 and full hard is 16, there are more clicks after 1 so you can get them revalved at tein. all of this information is actually on the manual on the tein site. check it out

I have them on my 99 si and I ride them full stiff all the way around.

haha ****, I am an idiot sorry..I like it, I actually wish it were stiffer... I think I'm gunna take it off full stiff though cuase like the kid above me said you shouldn't ride them at full stiff all the time..I haven't had problems and it's been like 2 months but oh well

Ok yea so just to clearify cause I guess I did a sucky job.
I want the numbers FROM the stiffness asak 1,2,3,4... not 16,15,14,13...

Anyone else with different settings?

i was running my SS's on 8f/8r for 90% of the time, and i loved it. not too stiff, but just stiff enough

And not too stiff that you don't feel like railroad tracks?

yea full closewise is 1 aka stiff. then counterclock is softer settings and numbers going up not counting down

I am running mine 2 from stiffest in the back and 4 from stiffest in the front. Its not bad for around town but highways suck. But its not my daily driver so I dont really care. Oh and this is on a 96EX 1.5" drop all around

this is what you want for handling: full soft front, full stiff rear.
i know 100% from experience. if the front is too bouncy on the street, turn it 4 clicks stiffer. don't touch the rears, leave them full stiff.

these things suck

you can really get a MUCH better setup for less money. i wish i did.

I have em and run em full stiff all the time. I did the same thing when I was running my Tokico's as well and never had a problem.

i doubt that running them too stiff will hurt them, they are designed to work with all the settings. why would they let you put them in a setting where you are damaging the strut? they wouldnt!

but anyways, i love mine, i have about a 2-3" drop on mine and im running them at 6f/4r.

depends on what the plans for the car are. i bought tein ss for my DA, with street driving in mind. then i discovered autox. the soft rates in the rear are great for street comfortablness, but contribute to massive understeer.

i wish i could go back and get custom gc/konis for like 200 bux less than i paid for teins. so if all you do is street drive, then teins work great. but hell, gc/koni with softer springs like 400f/300r or something like that probably work great too. for less money.
