CARB problems-check it out
I just got back from my emissions testing.
The place i took it to was unable to test the car.
I have an AEM intake and a DC sports header.
According to the tester the reason i failed was due to the fact that the car had unrecognized EO numbers on the parts.
I called AEM and they are issuing new EO numbers-so they are sending me a new sticker to hopefully clear up that issue.
the dc sports header is proving somewhat difficult. As it turns out AEM purchased DC sports...and they have not updated the EO numbers.
in my particular case...i own a 2000 civic si...the EO number is good through 1999...thus it wont pass. The current fix is to remove the header and send it to them. They will pop the weld on the old EO number and attach an updated number.
needless to say...major inconvienence. i will end up having to have the the header removed in order to pass emissions.
just wanted to let people know not to be surprised if their 50 state legal mods dont have valid EO #'s

Hmm...never heard something like this before. I thought that when an EO number is issued, that EO number is valid for life.
For the AEM intake, since they issued a new EO number after you bought your intake, the EO number that came with your intake is no longer valid?
For the DC Sports header, you mentioned that "i own a 2000 civic si...the EO number is good through 1999...thus it wont pass." So does that mean if you have a 1999 Si, it would have passed? Or did you mean that the number was good till 1999, and after that, the number is invalid for all models, including '99 models?
So say if a company goes out of business or something, would their product EO numbers still be valid or would all of their customers be screwed?

see its really sketchy. AEM did a good job explaining the situation as well as the shop i went to. pretty much the EO numbers for the parts by AEM and DC sports say like 199x-1999 honda civic si.
since mine is a 2000...the number on their doesnt apply to my car. so supposedly AEM has a new updated number for 1999-2000 honda civic si models and they updating the ones for DC.
the thing is that since both cars are essentially the same thing...my paperwork lists it as a 2000 model...so the person who works at CARB didnt want to check to see if there was a new number-they just said it wasnt legal.
both the shop and AEM said it was a load of $hit and that the parts were certified legal...so basically AEM/DC sports has or is working on a situation...and the govt is being a pain.
its confusing...but in short...if the car is 2000 model i would double check the EO numbers and see what it applies to.
most shops are supposed to provide a 2000 model with a 2000 model part for it...but most shops who have back stock may have used a 1999 part model...same thing in essence...but the EO numbers may differ since supposedly AEM says there are two EO numbers.
confusing
