I got my header, and catback piping.. i just need a cat or res, wondering if i should get a cat? or a res? i am wondering if i will be able to pass smog with a cat... my header is cutsom made so...doubt it... so should i just go and buy a cheapy "high flow cat" on ebay?

 

I passed emission with only a high flow cat. But i also had to add alcohol to help burn cleaner cause i couldn't pass the idle portion. A cat would of probably helped.

 

I would recommend a cat for the test. you can always have it taken off after your test if you dont want it for performance reasons.

 

it would depend on where you live. i passed the smog part here in houston with no cat. but obd2 they just hook up and look for codes. so if they actualy sniff the exhaust you would want a high flow cat because you will fail otherwise. if they hook up to your comp get a test pipe(but you will sound like *** and stink very badly) or cat (sound better and wont stink like ***).
