One of my friends made one for his Eclipse and it looks ghetto as hell. But one of my other firends just bought a kit (forgot what brand) and it actually looks pretty nice.

yeah, i couldnt find the old post either. mind shouldnt look too ghetto, i work at a shop and have access to good wire and terminals (which is why i cant see spending $80+ for a kit.....and im picky about how stuff looks).
thanks

Yeah, I mean, I do believe there are gains, I can see why...
But, gains that make it worth while is what I am after,

so i was bored at work and made a kit today. heres what i found: throttle response seems a little better. car used to have a tiny hesitation when you gassed it from idle and now its gone i think. it also seems to idle a little smoother. those are the only differences i see in mine, and i dont think those are placebo.
more horsepower? butt dyno says maybe not (for my car at least)
more torque? nope again.
better voltage? the autometer guage says no, but i wish i had used mr. fluke to do a before and after. i do see where this would be possible though...
louder stereo? nope, not mine. although if your voltage improved then so would this.
brighter lights? no, again back to the voltage.
bottom line is i would be pretty damn pissed if i spent $80 or more for a kit. but like i said, throttle response and idle, which were good to begin with, do seem a little better. if you can make one cheap, or free like mine, then do it just for the hell of it.
