Default Auto vs Manual

Me and my friend were having a discussion about automatic transmissions. I was wondering why more of the fast guys in pro fwd, hot rod...ect. dont use auto trannys. I know money isnt a problem for many of them. So explain why please.

Ladwig (gm) and Crawford (mopar) both do.. As far as fwd imports still don't have the parts that will hold up to the abuse..

Nisson and Mazda both have real good FWD automatics, I used one in my last
car. With a backyard buildup it held 500 hp with no problems.

VW also has a strong unit, but as far as I know no ones evr messed with it on
a drag strip. The Honda auto's I've seen don't look like they will hold much
more then 400 or so.
