Default How reliable is a 2.0L?

Well my B18C5 gernaded on me, and the sleeve is ruined in the #2 cylinder. I was wondering how streetable/reliable a sleeved 84-85mm engine is?

depends how aggressive you take it

it can be more so then a stock motor, or it can be a huge rough pain in the ***

it depends how you build it

it can be very reliable if all youre shooting for is 200. You can run relatively low(high 10, low 11) compression to accomplish that.

My previous build had 11.5:1 compression on 91 octane, seemed good, no detonation or pinging.

Would the combustion chamber also have to enlarged because to the larger bore?

no, youll lose a lot of compression

So no extra headwork is needed, would i still use the the same oem style headgasket or another aftermarket one(i had a spoon 2 ply before)...

i thought with a larger bore, you have to enlarge the combustion chambers on the head? you also can't use a stock headgasket if im not mistaken. someone correct me if i am wrong.

with a 2.0 you would need a different headgasket if you enlarge the bore

several companies make them

cometic and others

I don't think you have to enlarge the head, but you can if you want, and that would help I assume

you need a larger bore head gasket. but boring out the combustion chambers will not help. take my word for it, or ask around...the only person that does this is larry at endyn. I listen to brad at RLZ, and he told me he did a comparision and it hurts performance more than helping it

really. maybe i was reading old information, or possibly only getting one opinion. thanks. do you know if that would effect compression at all? i would think boring out the head to match the piston bore would lower the compression a little with the same piston?

it will lower it quite a bit. think about how much compression you get by using a 2 layer head gasket which is 1 layer thinner than stock(you gain .4 in comp or around there)...and how thin 1 of those layers is. Youre taking out a lot more material from the head. When brad ported my head, he milled it .025 just to bring it back up to stock compression, if he hadnt, then it would have picked up .7 in compression
