Default question about highway cruisin

I am going either need a new tranny or have my tranny rebuilt, but anyway the question is: How fast can I go in 4th gear on a freeway roadtrip, cus my 5th gear is broken??.... Dont really care about MPG's.

I would be a little more concerned about the tranny losing more gears on the trip. Probably wont be long till your down to one forward gear.

my friend had an old accord w/ a blown 5th gear. drove around in 4th gear for a good 6 months, no problems. then sold the car.

but i take 0 responsibility if you break something. so take that as one example, and not a guarantee.

heh, the 5th gear just pops out. I dont think ill lose any more gears by being in 4th... So what would 70 miles per hour be in rpm's (cx I dont have a tach). I have 16" rims and tires. Is that a reasonable cruising speed in 4th gear on the freeway?

Like RangerDan said, the CX tranny will allow you to do average speed on the highway all day long. The fifth is more of an overdrive gear or whatever. You may even have some power when needed if you stay in fourth
