The day my Prelude comitted Suicide....
Sorry if this is OT, please move to GDD if it is.
Story:
Last night i came home from killing time, parked the lude as usual(in gear-I thought, with e-brake set). I went inside to grab something from the fridge, when I heard something that sounded like thunder. When I came back outside, the neighbor said "your car is in my yard". I checked where i had parked it...and its gone....f*ck
I walk down the driveway and see dirt in the street from where it had gone 40 feet down my driveway, jumped a culvert, ran 100 feet across the street, took out a retaining wall in my nieghbors yard, fell 12 feet vertically, and slid 32 feet down a ravine into a tree......all the while it was rolling BACKWARDS...pics to follow

This is a shot of the car from atop the retaining wall it fell off.

This is a shot of the ravine from the street, bear in mind its a 45-50 degree incline

Yours truly assisting with the extraction

It took myself and two tow drivers 3 hours to get it out, and we had to build a ramp

The car and the tree that stopped it

Finally got her out, and here she is, pissing gas all over the street

There she goes, probably never to return again!
The damage to the inside of the trunk is serious, and the rear suspension is mangled. The gas tank was ripped open, and my Apexi is bent all outta whack...The car had OEM accessory sides and rear, and a GReddy front lip on it
All because the Wearever brakes failed.....AVOID THEM...and I work at the store that sells them exclusively....still waiting to see if she is totalled.....sniff, sniff

Sorry to hear what happened. Hope you salvage something from the mishap. One question, though. How could the car have moved if it was in gear and had the e-brake on?
Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. Isn't that Turbo Sam's old lude?
So how did the pads fail? Did the actual pad separate from the backing plate, or what? I don't see how it would have been that "slick" to have the car roll back like that....

you forgot to turn your wheel.
This is your fault. Not your brake pads.
How do you suppose they "failed"?

im assuming that i didnt put it in gear all the way, so it just rolled....the brakes are three days old...brand new Powerslot rotors on new pads...the car is at the body shop, and is going in the air tomorrow to see all the undercarriage damage....like i said before..ther is a ripple down the whole left side of the car...not clear in the pics...but its there....i have a pic of the e-brake lever still pulled up...and written statements from the neighbors right after it happened, and the wrecker drivers this morning showing it was pulled....i wasnt the first one on the scene, and my driveway is really steep....its focked up, and i still have to pay the 500 dollar deductible when the repairs get done, unless it gets totaled, then it prolly be parted out

turning my wheel would have let it roll to the left of my house...off the ledge on the left side and into our neighbors kitchen......'
for what its worth....I'm an ASE certified technician, so I pretty much can guarantee that the brakes were installed correctly...and if anyone questions my knowledge about hondas..please check my sig
Im not trying to be an a-hole, but im just upset about the whole situation,

Its just hard to swallow that the pads failed.
If they were 3 days old you have been driving on them. I am sure they would have seen stresses at least 20 times harder when driving than when parked.
Lots of possibilities here.
Maybe the MC failed. Maybe a brake line failed, maybe you have a leak in your braking system.
The pad material from a brake pad isn't likely to come off while the car is stationary with the ebrake on. The calipers should be sqeezing everything together, which would make it extremely difficult for the pad material to just slide off the packing plate against the rivets.
Since you just upgraded rotors and pads, I think it is more likely that you damaged a brake line. Or you just didn't pull the brake hard enough.

damn dude...that sucks! Did you adjust the ebrake after you installed the brakes? Mine did this too after I had put in brakes., mine just rolled in the street tho
It ended up being that I had to readjust the tension of the cable on the ebrake lever.
Just a thought

One of my friends had the same problem with adjusting the e-brake after he installed new rotors + pads. well good luck fixing it though, it is a nice clean ride
sad but tru...... i dunno if anyone recognizes the car..... but it my old one, i think i am more heartbroken about this than Bigjussin......

I could very well just be that the ebrake wasn't pulled up far enough. If you're on a steep incline its that much easier for the car to start rolling.
A couple of months ago I stopped in a parking lot with a decent incline. I thought I had pulled the ebrake sufficiently. As I'm getting ready to get out of the car the thing starts rolling. Fortunately I stopped the car immediately. But it did give my friend a scare.
I left the car running for him while I went to take care of some stuff. Otherwise I would have also had it in gear.
Now I try to be sure I have the ebrake properly engaged and I leave the car in gear. Especially when I'm stopped somewhere more steep.
I guess this stuff just happens sometimes. I feel bad about this; I hope things work out in the end...

AWww man i almost did that at work two weeks ago, Started the car and put it in drive to go, forgot i left something in my desk and went to go get it, I turn around and see my car rolling backwards towards this huuuge ditch/hill thing...Jump in through the window and hit the e-brake...I was sooooo lucky, and embarrassed cuz someone saw me lol...
Sorry to hear about your car...Hope its not too too bad....but considering it flew down a hill, i cant really say much...
