Everyday mine give me **** about it - always asking if I've sold it yet or offering it to family and friends for $5. If you're under their roof and still reliant upon them for money, then there's not much you can do. Just be patient til you move out or get a job.
i was 21 when i got my bike...havent talked to my dad since i bought the bike. Its been almost a year now. I'm talking not a single word even tho we live in the same house. My mom is cool about it..told me to be careful. My dads an ******* anyways...

Damn... sux bro.
Theyve known i was gonna get one since i was 13. When i hit 18 i saved enough and bought one and stashed it at my freinds house. They knew i had it when i rolled home in bandages after spending the day at the doctor getting gravel out of my skin. Mom still freaks a bit, but know that i wont stop riding... ill be movin out in 2 months anyway.. If anyones looking for an R6 in 2 months let me know.

i started with a ysr when i was ~15 or something like that. ever since, ive always had a dirtbike, and then streetbikes. my dad liked em, my mom was "eh" about it, but bought me cool stuff to help out (jackets, helmets and such.)
i guess my mom has come to realize that im responsible enough to handle a bike. even though i havent gotten one yet, she's still prepared for when i come home with one. when i had just sold my car, i came home and my mom was like "nice bike". im like "huh?". she saw a new red bike outside and thought i used the money to get the bike. she was all happy for me till she found out that it wasnt mine :shrugs:
I am turing 18 in 12 days, but yeah I have to keep this bike a secret. My uncle is helping me out with a loan and I will enroll myself to the msf course after I turn 18. As for the bike, I am shipping it to my friend's house as well, prob even hide it there for a while or just park it outside my house off the corner with a cover on it haha.
parents would sell my gsr right away if they ever found out

i just had to talk my parents into it, they didnt mind as long as they basically got to choose the bike. and as long as i take the MSF course and go riding with my dad (he has his own bike) to make sure i know what im doing

i feel ya... when i was 8 or so my brother got T-boned on his bike by a lady who ran a red light (he's 11 years older than me)... my parents virtually made me swear that i would *never* ride a bike...
they wouldn't let me get on the neighbor kid's Suzuki 80 FOREVER...
my mom kinda freaked when i said i was considering a bike, but called me back a couple days later and said that she didn't mean to come down so hard on me, and hoped i was careful and had fun...

I was originally planning on buying one instead of a car when I turned 16 but I got traumatized when I dropped an interceptor in a showroom when I was 15 1/2 (around 5'4 then so not really tall enough to ride).
My insurance is 300 a year for liability with Geico.

When i took the course my parents were like, "WTF" then a few months down the road when i actually was looking at an R6, i had a long conversation with my mom and she was convinced that i was mature enough and that i knew what i was doing. So she approved and she told me to wait for my dad while he was at work (we work for the same business, just not the same department) and i told him at work so he couldnt yell at me lol...
my dad actually test rode my bike around the block without a helmet the day after i got it
lol
but my mom still tells me "be careful...i love you!" shes just looking out
they just care a lot
they are some cool *** parents

I'm 16, yeah, what does that mean? I'm a very responsible rider. I am not financially stable, I bought my bike cash, and I only have liability insurance so you can bet your *** I'm as careful as it gets. I won't even ride my bike in the twisties cause I'm afraid I'll dump it.

im ready for my first bike but i always have the problem with mom. my dads has owned numerous bikes so he trusts me and encourages me to get one. but my mom always trys to drop the rule if u live at home ur not getting a bike.ill be getting an early 90s vfr or cbr1000 soon
My mom wasn't really into the idea at first but i just told her that i don't drink, do drugs, i have never gotten a speeding ticket and i've only been pulled over a total of 1 time and it was for a brake light out. and she warmed up to it in about 20 minutes and my dad already has a bike and he wanted me to get into it so he signed the loan for me.
My parents laughed at me. So I never told them. I went out and bought the bike by myself in my own name without them knowing. I parked it at my sister's house. When my dad found out, the comment he made was surprising. That might be due to current situations in my life right now. But he just told me to be careful and that was it.
well luckilly i have 2 older brothers that paved the way for me. My middle brother lets me ride his because he trusts me. As far as the parents my mom is getting used to the fact that we all ride and are responsible while riding (helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, etc).
5 months ago i was left with a choice to buy a CRX or a cbr f2. I went with the car(stupid me) and it now needs a new motor. well luckily i still have my brothers bike to ride so i hope this helps..... peace

For me, the parents aren't a problem. My parents trust me, and are supportive of the whole thing as long as it doesn't become their financial burden.
However, it's my boyfriend that is a problem. He rarely lets me ride on his bike, and when I even talk about taking a riding course he lectures me about how I can't ride. I feel bad about going behind his back and riding on my own (which i've been doing for about 4 months), but then again, I don't think he should be able to tell me what to do, and keep me from doing something I enjoy so much. I initially thought it would be something he would be supportive of, and would be something we could do together.... I think he's just afraid that i'll be better than him.
